Guest guest
hi, from everyone's experiences and research do you think yeast infections are a cause of vv or just a secondary condition which just seems to be prevalent in women with vv but not the cause? it would help me to know your opinions. thanks, robbin
Guest guest
Robbin, For me the reoccuring yeast infections were a symptom of my hormonal and immune systems being out of balance. I was eating foods I was allergic to every day, without knowing it. The reaction, vulvar and bladder pain, would start hours after I ate. The immune system fights food you are allergic to when you eat them as if they were a virus or parasite, so my immune system was very depleated and weakened. Plus I had a hormonal imbalance, not enough estrogen and lots of progestins (due to Depo-Provera causing hormonal sensitivities/allergies) so the natural vaginal yeast was given free reign to multiply over and over again. Once I found out what I was allergic to and stopped eating them my immune system had time to recover and my infections stopped. I will still get yeast if I cheat alot on the diet though. in SF
Guest guest
Hi, Robbin! I don't have vv. Based on what I've read, I have dyesthetic (sp?) vulvodynia, but I have an appointment with a specialist next week and we'll see what she thinks I have. Anyway, I am convinced that in my case, a yeast infection (perhaps made possible by declining estrogen levels) started the ball rolling, so to speak. There is a theory that a severe reaction to the c. albicans yeast is *one* cause of vulvodynia. Also, reactions to the creams used to treat yeast infections are also thought to be a culprit. Don't know if this helps... Guest guest
I think (my opinnion...not a doctor hear) that it could be both, rather vv could be triggered by a yeast infection, or yeast infections could be a nasty symptom of the disrupted ph and/or hormones that occure with vv.
