Hi everyone, I'm glad first of all, for finding more information on

what I've been worried about for so long ... I first noticed our

son's odd head shape a couple of months ago, when i mentioned it to

the Dr. he advised to reposition him (his head is somewhat flat on

the left side) to the opposite side, which i've tried. It has gotten

better, but now i'm wondering whether or not we'll eventually need

the *helmet treatment .... my son will be 8 months on Nov. 22nd.

Hello & welcome to our group:

Do you have any photos of your son you could show us? You could add

them to our " Photos " section " Our plagio kids " (the 3rd folder).

How do you feel about his current headshape. The thing to ask

yourself when questioning to band him or not, is would you be ok with

his current headshape being like that forever? I'm not saying it

would be, but IF it didn't round on it's own over time, would you ok

with it?

Where abouts do you live? We might have another member n your area

w/local info.

Hi,

Welcome to the group! We were able to successfully reposition our

daughter Remy to treat her plagio. We started repo at 5 months old,

which is really old to start repo. In our case, we saw dramatic

improvement between 5-7 months, a little improvement between 7 and 9

months, and a teeny-tiny bit between 9-11 months through repo. If you

are interested, you can see Remy's progress photos in the photos

section. Remy was an excellent candidate for repo because she did not

have tort (which undermines repo by restricting neck mobility), ear

misalignment, forehead bossing, or other facial asymmetries, all of

which are really common with plagio. Does your son have any asymmetries?

At 8 months, and after two months of repo, you should be headed toward

helmet/band therapy if you have not seen the results you have desired.

In our case, we set a personal deadline of trying repo until Remy was

8 months old, and then we would assess whether we would go to the

band. It turned out the results were so good, we just kept with repo.

It can take weeks, and sometimes months to slog through all of the

referrals, appts., etc. to get into the band. If you are willing to

consider helmet/bands as treatment, then the sooner you start working

it the better. If you would like to continue with agressive repo,

check out the LINKS\REPOSITIONING folder and the FILES\REPOSTIONING

HEADQUARTERS folder.

Where are you located? We may have a group member in your area.

Also, are you able to post a photo of your son in the photos section?

It might give a better picture of how successful repo has been for you.

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)

Have you seen a neurosurgeon or craniofacial doctor yet? What area

do you live in? Maybe another member can point you in the next

direction to take.

Welcome,

A lot of people have had success with repositioning. I am sure some of them can give you better information on it. I just wanted to say hi.
