No reason for you to apologize for a second !

How is Dylan doing in his helmet?? Still good I hope! He is looking

great last time we saw your pics.

My Abby never had any plagio measurements taken. Some orthotists do,

some don't.

Im a bit confused- if there are no measurements or people chose not

to go by the numbers then how do you get a reference point? Dylan

has been measured twice, once at the specialist, once at the

orthotists- both got 2 very different numbers- so I realize

measurements are subjective and vary. But for me being at the

begining, reference numbers were important in helping ME make the

decision- It was all I had to go on since I didnt notice his head

being different seeing him all the time.

Aside Dylan is doing much better and we have our first recheck appt

on Thursday- Thanks for asking

It is all very confusing . We used both a STARband for a few

mos then switched to the DOCband. Neither the STAR ortho or CT

therapist we had took measurements, nor did her ped. neuro. I never

really asked why they did not, but after hearing how subjective the

measurements can be (as yours were like you said) I can understand

why not. For us, we could simply SEE her plagio & assymteries.

We " eyeballed " her progress for lack of a better word. CT took

monthly photographs (not her STAR ortho) and CT also had her

original head mold which we compared her current shape to her

beginning band shape.

I'm glad he's doing well.

Hi,

Measurement of improvement of plagiocephaly throughout treatment is

a very interesting topic to me. Depending on the reference points

used, I can see where different people can get different

measurements. We just compared photographs of Remy's head, hopeful

that we were taking them at the same angle every time. Since it's a

3D growth, you would think complex 3D measurements would need to be

taken. Here is a new study published tackling this problem that I

found interesting:

Development of a new three-dimensional cranial imaging system.

The cranial imaging system is a safe and accurate method of

obtaining digital 3D images of an infant's cranium. Along with the

obvious clinical and manufacturing benefits, it also has significant

potential as a research tool for documenting the natural history and

evaluating the treatment of plagiocephaly.
