Paramedic is charged with sodomy

A veteran andria paramedic who lives in Fredericksburg faces

charges he sodomized a 15-year-old Henrico County boy he met over the Internet.

Walter " Roy " Tuthill, 44, was charged with two counts of sodomy

Friday-more than a month after a police officer allegedly caught him with the

boy in the back of his van, Henrico police Sgt. Tom Shumate said yesterday.

Tuthill, a 24-year veteran of the andria Fire Department's

Emergency Medical Services office, was charged with contributing to the

delinquency of a minor that night and the case was turned over to a detective

for further investigation.

Henrico Investigator Ed Kopacki learned that Tuthill and the boy

allegedly started chatting on the Internet the night of Nov. 25.

The boy wanted advice and Tuthill allegedly insisted they meet in

person, Shumate said.

The boy was picked up and driven to a dark subdivision in Henrico.

The boy was then forced to perform sex acts, Shumate said.

A Henrico officer saw the van and knocked on the windows, Shumate

said.

Tuthill, an EMS supervisor for 10 years, was held without bond

yesterday at the Henrico County jail.

He is on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
