I was using the capsules, which made me feel soooooo good! The tea doesn't

seem to have the same effect on me.

Hi Ali,

I know this has been difficult for you. I know when we took to the

specialist we

certainly saw babies with way worse deformities than his and for a brief moment

thought that we shouldn't be there. I even went through the same thing as you in

briefly wishing the deformity was worse so there would be no question about

whether

or not to treat. Of course I am glad he is not too bad actually and would not

really

want him to be worse. We went planning to treat him unless the specialist

absolutely

felt it was not needed. As an aside note, my son's ped (family doc actually)

thought

that I was the one who needed to see a doctor (actually said that to my wife who

was

not really on board with pursuing treatment in the beginning) and not (he

thought I was nuts and that had no headshape issues).

You may not even see other babies at your son's apointment since I'm sure there

are

not a lot of referrals for this in Atlantic Canada. I would encourage you again

to go to

the appointment for your own peace of mind. Tell Dr. Walling your concerns with

your

son's headshape and that you would like to treat him if it will help improve his

headshape. He will let you know what he thinks. My wife doesn't know him but is

familiar with him and says she has heard that he is very nice. The others who

have

used him spoke highly of him. Don't worry about what he thinks of you going. He

is a

doctor and you are hiring his services in seeing your son. He is working for

you. I

know it may not seem like that in Canada since you don't have to pay anything to

see

him.

If you do not go you will always wonder. Even if you do feel dumb about going

(probably several of us here have) you will feel better after the appointment.

It is also very cold here in northern Maine, down to -55 with wind chill. They

cancelled all schools last night.

Good luck with your appointment.

All the best,

Mark

I got phone numbers for the CDC and several liver institutes. I will be calling all of them tomorrow to see if they can help me to find competent care in this area. Once I find out where I can go I will be calling the Medicaid office to find out about signing up for rides. As I said I am NOT going to let this thing walk on me.

Hello Ali,

Welcome to the group. My name is . I live in Virginia and was

diagnosed (dx'd) with JRA with adult persistence in 1999 when I was 22. My

current meds are Remicade, Ibuprofen, Folic Acid and Methotrexate for my RA. I

also take Flexerill for a pinched nerve and Skelaxin for injuries sustained in a

car accident. I have always tested negative for the rheumatoid factor and ANA.

My Sed rate (aka ESR) was very high during my path to diagnosis, which is why 12

doctors couldn't dx me. My CRP was also high. I didn't show any signs visible

inflammation until a week before I was dx'd. Prior to my RA symptoms developing,

I had a bout of uvitis so my initial dx by my 1st rheumy was Reactive

Arthritis/sero-negative inflammatory arthritis. Bloodwork every 4 weeks for

methotrexate is standard only for the 1st six months or so, then it is usually

every 3-6 months. I get my blood drawn every quarter.

Take care,

Steph in VA

It was to you and Toni. Just a comfort to have other

paramedics out there. We had to move away from the

company I worked for my entire career and I miss it so

much. But I know I am physically not able to do it

now. Just missing it.

Ali,

To answer your question. In a way my RA did make me leave medicine

completely. But we are a former military family being a paramedic was awsome.

I went

to nursing school but chose being a medic over being a nurse. When we move

here to Texas the pay was soo low I went to working in hospitals and clinics.

It was the only way I could get half decent pay.

I had no desire to be a firefighter...even though as a female in my

community I was seriously enticed. I fit the whole bill for the affirmative

hiring

policy...which I will not explain any more...but I think you can figure that

one out.

It was reaching the point where I was commuting almost 100 miles per

day...working 12 hr shifts in ICU as a tech and monitor tech. Also working in

the

cath lab and was so exhausted at the end of the day all I could do was sleep

the next day before going back.

so I changed careers and went high tech. I lasted about 3 yrs before I

finally figured out what was wrong and it was just " getting old " that was

bothering me.

I have lost a lot of the fine motor skills that made me an excellent at my

job.

At first I was upset about the change....but it was really a blessing. I

got to spend all my daughters middle and high school time with them. They are

now both off and college and we are still very close. So the timing for me

could not have been better.

I am still working full-time...but so far its basically temp jobs..and I run

my own financial planning/analyst business which I do very well at.

Toni

Ali,

You responded to Carol and wow it soundslike my symptoms. This past year I have

a bad armpit smell under my right armpit and not my left. I could not understand

why only one armpit and why I smell so bad now when I never did before. I have

cut out the dairy but I have not started the diet yet because I just came across

this all not even a whole week ago. I am cutting out all gluten next. Then sugar

and so forth.

I also fibromyalgia and constantly have the pain where you described between the

shoulder blades, too. It is amazing how many people have similar problems. I am

encouraged this diet will help me as it has helped so many others.

> I know there is a problem, because apart from the discomfort - that gets worse

as the day wears on and settles a bit overnight, which suggests something to do

with my digestion, my left armpit is often smelly when I awake, whilst my right

one isn't, and never has been.

Hi 'Fibrofightingmom' - sorry I don't know your name....

As Hippocrates said - all disease begins in the gut. Once the gut is damaged,

it can no longer absorb nutrition properly and the body inevitably suffers. It

only needs a shortage of one element and all the others can be thrown out of

kilter. When you have gut damage and are eating foods that keep that cycle

going, then it doean't matter how much nutrition you consume, it can't get

through. That's why this has to be a two edged approach with the removal of the

damaging foods and the introduction of the beneficial ones.

Some people will inherit a poor nutritional status from their parents, some will

acquire it during their life - and lifestyle choices, and some will have the

misfortune to end up with both, but whatever the cause, it still comes back to a

lack of proper nutrition, as Bee is constantly pointing out.

Although I have been on the diet for almost 11 months it has been a slow

progress for me because of my severe gut damage, but gradually it is improving.

I was given a lot of antibiotics as a child, and that coupled with the high-carb

Western diet has trashed my digestion big time.

Interestingly, my husband has FM. Three years ago when I first dumped gluten,

he decided to join me as an experiment (he hates being left out, bless him!).

It took a few forays back into the gluten before he finally acceded that he was

better off without it.

The biggest changes have been the disappearance of his awful brain fog and

depression. He does go up and down a bit with the FM discomfort, but he is not

on Bee's diet and is not benefiting from the regime - poor man feels deprived

enough as it is, and I can't persuade him to give up his gluten-free cookies or

his porridge (oats, although usually ok, are sometimes processed through the

same machinery as wheat, so can be contaminated from it), So he still has some

sugar. He's managed to give it up in his tea, so that is a start. It is

possible that the fatigue he gets sometimes could be a low-level detox thing - I

do sneak a bit of coconut oil into his diet here and there....

You are doing the right thing. I have tried all sorts of diets and treatments

over the years, but I know I am going the right way with this one, the healing

signs I am seeing are proof enough of that.

I hope you are able to get into the diet ok and wish you all the best on your

journey.

Ali.
