Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, My thoughts are with the woman, I hope she'll recover! I'm not sure what I could do outside of my own world, but I do know that I will not let my future children in the dark when it comes to their bodies and their sexuality. I was as a child, and I think that has something to do with my ignorance which eventually brought on fear. Guest guest
I will keep this poor suffering woman in my prayers. It is sad when some physicians get so clinical that they forget we are human beings with feelings. Please let this woman know that our hearts are with her and that she is welcome in our group if she needs the additional online support. Bunny /| |\ . . ( ! ) Reply-To: VulvarDisorders To: <VulvarDisorders > Subject: Vulva Reconstruction - Spare a Thought Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 08:00:53 +0800 I am asking of the girls on this line to spare a thought for one of our GAIN members who had a reconstruction on her vulva yesterday. Apparently it is nothing to worry about the fact that it is " pre cancer " and that she has had bits cut out of her vulva every year for 7 years. That she has to have it all patched back up again but as she is told " it is only pre cancer " like as if it doesnt matter. She suffers so badly and finds very very little support. In fact she says she feels like she it treated like a leper in her own words. I do worry that I speak in these terms but where and when is somebody going to address vulval issues UPFRONT. It seems we can talk and talk and talk yet no one seems to hear. Or is it just me. I am somewhat concerned about the next generation of women if we dont bring this out into the open. I am willing to speak with ANYONE professionally who is interested in trying to help. I am writing off the the World Health Organisation to see what can be done. Guest guest
I am right behind you! How can anyone " minimize " even the thought of cancer!!! I can't believe the stupidity, insensitivity, and insecurity in this world that doctors seem to carry with them every day. If there is anything we/I can do, just holler. ~Mindy~ I will definitely be thinking of this women __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Please give my warmest thoughts to this woman. I cannot imagine the horror she is going through and to have no support through all of this is horrible. I am thinking of her and wishing her the very best. > I am asking of the girls on this line to spare a thought for one of our GAIN > members who had a reconstruction on her vulva yesterday. > > Apparently it is nothing to worry about the fact that it is " pre cancer " and > that she has had bits cut out of her vulva every year for 7 years. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen I really do admire your persistance in fighting this ignorance that society has towards vulval issues. I also want to send my best wishes to the lady who has had surgery not long ago. She is in my thoughts. If I can be of any help please contact me. I have been busy lately(I got married and I am pregnant and constantly going to different appointments), and it might take a few days to get back but I will give my best. We must get a word out. That is an imperative!!!!
