That's one heck of a long run-on sentence! Wow! I think the reason that

the people in your class are not speaking to you now is that they don't

know what to say, or what's okay to say, so they're defaulting to " don't

say anything. "

Look, the trick to starting conversations is to ask about the other

person and look interested in what they're saying, even if you think

it's totally boring or ridiculous.

Example:

You: " Hi, [other person's name], how are you doing today? "

Other person: " I'm fine, how are you? " (Standard response.)

You: " I'm fine too. Hey, did you see [movie that is currently popular]?

I was thinking about going to see it but I've heard mixed reviews. "

Then just listen while they talk. Say " Oh yeah? " and " mm-hmm " as

appropriate, to show you're listening. Look at the bridge of their nose

so they think you're making eye contact.

Also, practice this with someone beforehand. It's a learning curve.
