Well, duh, if he's 13, (and 13 year old NT's are rather immature) and autistic I wouldn't guess he's ahead for his age! What were we saying about ignorance? Is he fully included, ? You know, if the other teachers are complying with his IEP okay, then this teacher needs to be put on the spot. " Why are YOU the only one that is NOT helping matters? " You can ask, or have the inclusion specialist or another resource teacher, (even a fine aide can help) find out what the teachers problem is. Usually they just require a short attitude adjustment. (The head banging would be fine). My daughter is also 13. We encounter idiots all the time and just find someone higher up to straighten them out. I have learned, don't let them see you sweat, and take care of problems as stealthy as possible. (I write businesslike e-mails to the administrators in an innocent fashion, like just making conversation, and they reply back with " Don't worry, I will take care of that! " ) Hehe. You innocently exchange e-mail addys at the IEP, like good natured and just for fun. Then you send a joke or two their way, then one day you ask them seemingly at the end of your rope what you should do, and voila! Taken care of! I have done that a couple of times already, and they bite every time. Isn't e-mail wonderful? People love to give out their CELL PHONE numbers and their E-MAIL ADDRESSES. They think they're cyber jocks or something when they do that. Just play along, and it's amazing what they will do on their own time for your kid. >>, I still wanna be sedated - the Ramones Sounds like a 60's Motown group! " and the Ramones " I love it.
