Val

Sorry to hear you are feeling bad.

I am not up-to-date with your situation since I went down my own personal

black hole recently and am just re-emerging, peeking over the parapet.

So what's happening? You got the metformin and some other med. right? and

that did not help so you found this different doctor who prescribed you insulin

and you had to figure out how much and when from the testing with your

finger-prick device?

Am I right so far?

In what way are you feeling crappy?

UM I noticed yesterday while I was VERY busy at work that people are not

changing the suibject lines in their posts. this resulted in MANY posts

with my name in the subject both here and on NTH that had nuttin to do

with me. As I was swamped I ended up deleting alot of posts and just

hope i didn't miss any one that really needed to contact me, so please

change the subject lines when you post an add on to a subject to reflect

what the new subject is. I moderate three BIG lists and 2 smaller ones

and own a list and am a member of 7-8 more for my own things like pet

health and grooming and Diabetes. I also moderate a very active forum at

Stop the Thyroid Madness and have been the " keeper of the sites " to

order meds from which entails sending out the list to anyone that asks.

These all keep my inbox VERY full. Please help me out here. Thanks!

So glad to hear this Val. I have heard also that some people don't

do well on the synthetic insulins. There are a small minority of

folks who are still using animal insulin who really have to fight to

keep that option.

Actually I joined three different Yahoo groups and the level of

knowledge is lower than what I have already especially about eating! I

just yesterday was directed to a fella that has a private list, off

Yahoo that I joined and had a long chat wiht this ANGEL of a man last

night. We talked over an hour last night on the phone and i trust his

judgement and he is going to help me get my levels straightened out.

First thing is I have ordered the RIGHT Insulins that I need instead of

this pre-mixed stuff i have.. wrong insulin. But I am doing the best I

can wiht this which ,means testing my sugar almost hourly and adjusting

the dose wiht abotu 5 injecitons a day. I am alreayd more than double

what i was prescribed and sitl not keep ing the blood levels I need for

health,. When I get it down to 120 (still too high! ) I feel like I am

on speed the energy flows so well. All my body pains leave and even my

almost copnstant headache, but then within a couple hours either I go

too high agian and need mORE insulin or too low and have to eat to bring

it back up which then goes too high agian. This insulin is impossible to

adjust right. but I will be dpoing muvch better by then end of next week

when i will have the right stuff! There are Diabetes angels out there

too, this guy is a retired engineer and Diabetic that had to figure out

this on his own as Diabetes doctors are no better than thyroid/adrenal

doctors it seems. So he is spending his retirement helping others get

their levels straightened out. THANK YOU LORD for sending me to him.

Starvation and copious amounts of Insulin yesterday..~ LOL I ended up

with taking 80 u yesterday and am prescribed 35... Sad how badly they

missed the mark. I am still unable to eat any carbs to speak of without

having spikes. NO grains, even sugar free candy spikes me! I can eat

meat, eggs and cheese and a small glass of milk and low carb yogurts and

maintain this, but OMG the cravings on that few carbs is horrible. And

if it is like the last time I went on Atkins it will make me ill after a

while. So I am praying for the better insulin to arrive soon. I learned

something yesterday that I need to have testing done for.. Most type 1

Diabetics it is autoimmune.. YIKES, and it Can happen later in life

though not as often. With the amounts of insulin I am needing, it is

possible though & I should have testing done for it.

I really don't know why I seem to need it but have since childhood.

Right now I am down to 1 grass a day and my fingernails are crumbling,

literally! Then my hair gets like straw then the stomach problems begin.

Right now I have perfect bowel movements for the first time in my life

(started when i was on HC ) and i have no symptoms of milk allergy or

any lactose problems. I only drink organic milk and I am sure that

helps, but Cottage cheese, yogurt and my 1 glass of milk are staples in

my diet, and will remain so.

your insulin response is from BOTH the carbs in the food and the

PERCEIVED sweetness of it. So sweeteners are of no help if your body

perceives the sweetness of it. Better to balance with real sugar your

protein and fats for a good response. YMMV but there is a lot to be

gained by knowing this if you use sweeteners. Your body remembers and

you can have an insulin rush from even *thinking* about eating certain

things. i find it is best to test and know your own body.

Two words: " Crock Pot " .

I LOVE my crock pot. Toss all the stuff in there, turn it on, and by dinner

time its all ready, and yo ucome home and the house smells divine!

You can do chicken, chicken & rice, roasts, soups, scalloped potatos (well,

you can't have that. Actually, neither can I right now :-(.

What if the symptoms I'm still having are not hypo?

SOMETHING made me hypo. I do not have immunities, I do not have Hashi's. I

am looking for the cause of my hypo. I had the stomach bloating and pain

at least 10 years before I was hypo, and that is gone now after addressing

the candida.
