Just someone got my goat up earlier by insisting my hypoT was caused by Hep C and I just don't now, like you say, just where it all began......... Guest guest
Mo, I think sometimes with things like this, we may never know, kinda like why one has a miscarriage, you can make yourself nuts trying to figure out why, when there may never be an answer. I've been looking back and trying to figure my history out also, but it's really difficult because so many things come into play. Well yes it does or rather can cause hypoT as can the treatment for Hep C, interferon. The conversion process of T4 to T3 takes place in the liver and I suppose this is where an underfunctioning liver could cause problems. Mo, I'm certainly no expert, but I would think that Hypo C, as an undiagnosed chronic infection, is not only more than enough to induce HypoT but the two combined may well be more than enough to cause your adrenals to burn out! Guest guest
I don't think any of us will really know because as she said, way too many things come into play. First I've heard of Hepatitis being a cause. One of the interesting " concepts " that I've been introduced to since venturing down what would be considered the alternative medicine path, is the idea that " autoimmune " disease isn't...in other words, the body really isn't attacking itself, but rather attacking against a very real threat which may have gone undetected by drs, or which may have somehow gotten off track. This probably isn't new to you, but it was to me. Perhaps that is what happened it the beginning with the hep C. I'm like you...always trying to figure it out rationally. But, as Linn said, it doesn't always make sense, unfortunately.

I figure that my adrenals 'went' first which would have allowed the immune system to run down encouaring any Joe Virus in the vicinity to come stay for the long haul. Now I understand that the conversion process of thyroid hormones would then be affected and I suppose this applies to anyone whose liver is not in great shape not just those with a disease manifesting in that area. Just when the hypoT appeared though I am not too sure and yes it would be nice to know precisely.......... So much interaction in the body, genetics etc. etc. etc. Mo NOVA Counselling & Healing Services
