Hi,

Please try not to panic. Some plagio babies DO have the ridge you are

referring to. And yes, plagio and torticollis DO go hand in hand. I'm

not a doctor, but I'd say your baby most like does just have plagio.

It's good though that your doctor wants this checked out. Untreated

cranio can be very dangerous.

When is the appt for the CT scan?

Hello there

First off my dd has tort as well and the board is great. Next one

of the ladies in the tort group had a 3D CT done for her daughter to

rule out cranio. Of what I understood that is the secure way to

rule this condition out. Hopefully it will only be positional

plagio. Sometimes tort kids can really look off. Don't trust your

eyes.

Hi and welcome to the group. I'm not very knowledgable about

cranio. I do know that the only way to rule cranio out is by a CT

Scan or equivalant. Normal X-Rays are not a good indicator of this

condition. My daughter rec'd what they called 3-D X-rays and that is

how cranio was ruled not the case in her situation. I hope that

helps. Keep us updated if you can.

Hi, I just wanted to say welcome to the group. I don't know too

much about cranio, but my daughter did have xrays to rule it out.

We were told that xrays aren't always conclusive, but they can tell

you that when they see them rather than worrying about misreading

them. THey said if it wasn't that obvious then we'd have a CT

scan. I've always heard that CT scans are a sure way of knowing, so

that's good you'll get an answer right away. My Hannah also had

some very defined ridges, but she just had severe plagio. I'll keep

my fingers crossed for you. Let us know what happens.

Hello and welcome to the group.

Your doctor is doing the right thing by refering you to a

specialist. Most of the time positional plagiocephaly can be

diagnosed without xrays or ct scan, but if cranio is suspected they

do need a ct scan. I believe they sedate the baby for the scan, so

they don't know what's going on. It will most likely be harder on

you. Also you can have tort and cranio(syntosis) - it depends on

where the sutures are fused - it can affect the neck muscles causing

tightness.

But please know that ridges don't always mean cranio, so try to stay

positive(I know easier said than done).

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Please let us know how Jack's appointment goes.
