New to the list here

Hello everyone

My name is Rhonda.. and I live in Long Island NY. I just joined the

list this morning, and have since been thumbing through some posts

here.

I am 27..married- stay at home mom to my 7 year old son Tommy

(autistic/PDD) and my 4 year old (going on 25) daughter na

(typical raging 4 year old that knows everything..lol)

We (my husband and myself) are both prior military.. so I have quite

the long resume of dealing with doctors, schools, therapists etc from

all over. Tommy was diagnosed at 2 1/2 in Southern California, and

we just moved from NH to NY this past summer. THANK GOODNESS we are

done with the military! I think the moving around so much has really

delayed Tommy more than anything.

ANyhow.. long story short.. I just wanted to introduce myself here..

as well as get to know everyone else. We have tried various methods

for Tommy.. from ABA (succesfull when you have an ABA instructor that

is qualified), behavior therapy (successfull to a point), sensory

integration (greatly successful- however, i think we have gone as far

as we can get with that), dietary (successful, however again, i think

we have sucked the success out of that as well), and supplemental

(trial and error didnt work for us).

As you can see, we have quite the open mind about things. Currently,

TOmmy's behaviors are similar to walking on thin ice..lol We are a

bit on a standstill on things due to his schooling situation. He is

currently homeschooled until appropriate (legal) placement can be

agreed upon. His agression has us looking into meds to control his

anxiety. Whats next right?..lol

Thank goodness I was blessed with a good sense of humor, and and high

tolerance and lots of patients.. and a positive outlook. All of us

for that matter.. otherwise, how else would we all get through this

right?

Thanks for taking the time to read my.. novel!..lol Sorry for the

length.

Take care

Hi Rhonda, welcome! And to all of the other new people who have

joined the list in the past month...Welcome to you also. I have been

a little flaky about posting lately (almost non-existant) & very

little time to get near my computer so, I'm very sorry if I missed

your intro's & didn't say hi. I'm glad you've all found this

wonderful list & hope it helps all of you.
