Just a general question --

Why do people refer to pharmaceutical products whose primary purpose is to

alter the way the brain functions as " meds " . A more precise term is

" drugs " , which refers specifically to that type of medicine, although

sometimes by extension to all pharmaceutical products.

" Meds " , which I suppose is short for " medicine " , would describe primarily

items having primarily a medicinal purpose such as antibiotics, and

anti-inflammatory drugs, and only by extension mind altering substances.

The use of " meds " to describe substances such as r-ball and a-bombs seems

like an admission that one does not want to acknowledge that they are

mind-altering pharmaceuticals.

I don't think that differentiation is used in the UK. Meds are

chemicals that help one to health, whether mental or physical. It

sounds pretty comdemnatory to insist anyone who takes a psychoactive

medication is the same as a drug addict abusing mind altering

substances. My medication keeps my head above water most of the time,

it doesn't mess up my system. Admittedly at a higher (and more usual)

dose it would, but where it's at it's very obvious it rights something

that's seriously wrong.

in which public resources are overexploited and everyone suffers. "

'meds' is a shorthand for medication, same, as 'ASpie', " DX' and so on.

Its that simple.

Yep, but they don't like to admit that.

But doesn't it do physical damage, like genetic changes, if you are having

kids? that's what I remember as being the main complaint against it, aside

from the way it weirds you out.

I wonder if it's because tobacco can kill whereas marijuana can " only "

send some people psychotic? Also marijuana isn't physically addictive

while tobacco most definitely is.

**Maybe pure tobacco is safe, but the stuff that's in most brands of

cigarettes has dozens of chemicals added to it and was actually bred to be

higher in nicotine, so as to be more addictive. Then there's the filters,

which, I'm told, add further toxicity.

If that were the justification, it would not apply to at least 50%

of the population who are medically never able to bear children, not

to mention those women who are medically able to bear children but

choose not to.

**What? Tobacco or pot? I know (not personally) many rock and folk stars who

liberally indulge(d) in both, and had a bunch of healthy offspring. I think

all this talk about it damaging one's genes/DNA is just more

scare-mongering.ike to learn more about MJ, just google it.
