Guest guest
Hi Gang, My daughter Elle was in a NOPCO helmet from 4.5 months to 11.5 months. Although we saw great improvement in the flat spot, now that the helmet is gone I'm noticing more facial asymmetry than I did with the helmet, and a bulge on one side of her head. I took her to a consult at CT and they told me that she was a candidate for further banding. We have an appointment set up for casting, and she will be 14.5 months at the time she will receive the new band. My question is....is it safe to keep a child banded for this length of time? I wish I could just let her head grow " naturally " but I know this is our last chance at further correction. Does anyone have an experience with this and should I have any concerns?? Also, we are taking her to intensive (3 times a week) cranial therapy--which seems to be helping some already. Our therapist is confident she can help with the remaining head shape and the facial asymmetry. After two weeks of treatment, I am also seeing great progress with the head tilt from the tort. I am hopeful, and will definitely keep you all posted. Happy Holidays to all, Pam (mom to Elle-- 13.5 months)
