That was one woman's opinion, and quite frankly, she should have kept it to herself. it is one thing to offer opinions of support, but if she felt that you were making a mistake she should keep it to herself.

I have heard of far more success stories than unsatisfied ones. That should speak for itself.

Moral Support Needed

Hi all,I was at the ped with the kids tonight and this very nice woman came up to me and said, "My son had a band like that and it did not help at all." She blamed the peds for not referring her early enough. So she chose like me to band him at 9months which is about JT's age at banding. She said he has all sorts of problems with his jaw and his whole right side. She said the flat spot never went away. I told her I went to CT in Paramus NJ and the band was $3,000. She went to a place in NYC for $800.00. She felt I wasted my money and was actually feeling sorry for me in front of the entire (very crowded) ped's office. On this board you really never hear of someone who is unhappy. I was so shocked. Are we really doing the right thing for our children or are we just really listening to the success stories? I am really starting to question myself. How many people drop off this board with unsuccessful stories? Do those people stay around? Was this just an isolated case? HELP!!!!!!!!!!! I feel really lousy tonight! Kathy (mom to JT DOC 10/30)For more plagio info

Kathy,

Don't let anyone tell you that you are wasting you money on your band.

I would gladly pay 3,000 on the chance that my baby could be helped than

worry about wasting money and always wondering what could have been. Also

remember that even if we are only hearing the sucess stories, there are an

awful lot of them :) Also you don;t know what type of helmet her son had.

At 9 months you probably wouldn't get much correction with a passive helmet

but I can see a world of difference in Jordan who was 9 months when he got

his active STARband. Don't let it get to you, you know in your heart that

you are doing the right thing for JT.

Kathy,

Don't doubt yourself!!! You are definitely doing what you feel is best. Have you seen any results yet...sometimes it takes a little longer when they are older.

didn't get his band until almost 10 months and we ended up going to CT in Paramus and have been very happy with the results so far!! We still have a ways to go, but his head looks so much better already to me. Maybe she just didn't have a good orthotist or something and didn't persue other options.

Hang in there!
