Yes, we live off vegetables too now, with emphasis on as much variety as possible - about 50% cooked and 50% raw (by volume). And then just a little meat or fish as flavoring! It makes shopping easier because we can fill the cart with fruit and vegetables and then, if there is room, put the other stuff on top. > I have to microwave the potato, I > eat half (almost). We never tried that. We alternate boiled and baked, both in their skin, including sweet potatoes, but always mixed with a little fat and protein to keep the peaks down a bit. I can remember getting into serious trouble here for writing about actually eating potatoes, the atmosphere sure has changed! > Last night it was green beans, a > carrot, tomato and a celery stalk. Sounds good, Sam. > I tried steaming a chicken breast, > it's about like poaching, it's less > trouble, but makes it a bit tough, > think I;ll go back to frying in a few > drops of peanut oil. We lightly boil our chicken breast together with some vegetables then I remove the skin from mine. I once could eat a whole fried chicken at a sitting but I now I am satisfied with half a breast provided I get a plateful of vegetables with it! I aim to get around 4kg (9 pounds) of food during the day, including water. I read somewhere that the " satisfied " feeling kicks in when about 1kg (2 pounds) is in the stomach and that seems to work out right for me. My wife is full with only a few hundred grams (about half a pound!) which explains why she is still underweight.
