Like mental retardation? I'm not joking! Please help me if you're a true, loving, and caring Christian. If you're not please don't bother to type bad comments or sarcasm, bad advice, and stuff to make me feel offended. Don't crack jokes about my handicap because if you do what goes around, comes around. I need some encouragement and a scripture about the mental illness or mental retardation. Please help me and those who don't, don't type! 2 weeks ago Dec 23, 2006 at 2:02 am -->- 15 answers - Report Abuse You've already answered this question. --> She-Nerd About Me Member since: May 16, 2006 Total points: 2,166 (Level 3) Points earned this week: Total answers: Best answers: Best Answer - Chosen By Voters You seem quite articulate for a developmentally disabled person. Are you sure you don't have high functioning autism? Sometimes HFA is misdiagnosed as mental retardation. I believe that a lot of what is called mental illness, mental retardation, autism, etc, is a social problem rather than a medical problem. That is, there is nothing that needs " healing " , you're fine the way you are. Instead, society needs to learn to accept different kinds of people, and differently abled people need to learn to focus on their strengths, compensate for their weaknesses, and accept themselves as they are. I am not a Christian, but I was raised Christian. I've been thru many attempts to " heal " me, even " exorcise " me. Turns out I have Asperger's Syndrome, a form of high functioning autism, and my difficult behaviors and thoughts were a response to society trying to make me hate myself as I am, and force me to be like everyone else. Now I am a panthiest, I believe that God is everywhere and in everything and far bigger than the god of any creed, and I know that God made me just like I am for good reasons. So I no longer worry about being different from everyone else, I just aim to be the best person I can be. __________________________________________________
