I drink caffeine quite a lot. In fact, I try to special order Jolt Cola in the

24oz. cans whenever possible. I'm somewhat of a morning person so by the end of

the day, I usually start to tire out, and could definitely use that boost of

energy.

Red Bull/caf

Coffee makes me jittery, tea makes me jittery and also gives me

intestinal issues; Red Bull does not. It usually makes me somewhat

alert, although I have been known to drink a can and go lie down to

take an undisturbed nap when I've been up for more than 24 hours. (I

stay up more than 24 hours with or without RB, by the way).

Any auties out there live on caffeine? It helps me get up in the

morning, as I am NOT a morning person, and sometimes it seems to help

me focus a bit, and sometimes it helps me to face the day, just

knowing I have too much work to do and not enough time to do it in,

especially when I perseverate online for a few hours.

I love caffeine. I usually drink green tea, because coffee makes me too

jittery and also has the tendency to pass right through me. If I need to

wake up early, though, I will have a cup or so of coffee right before I go

to bed; I'll still be tired when I fall asleep, but I'll wake up early

feeling fairly refreshed. The caffeine in soda, on the other hand, does

absolutely nothing to me.

Interesting. Red Bull is an almost absolute guarantee that I won't sleep

for at least the following six hours, and as such was something I used

heavily towards the end of my attempts at employment. I'm actually using

it right now, to catch up on reading and email.

> Any auties out there live on caffeine?

Not on, but certaintly with the help of, as I've found that a constant

(albeit quite low) level of caffeine keeps most migraines away, keeps my

permanent headache from getting out of hand, and helps me think better

(in almost every possible area).

No, Mountain Dew has no effect on me. Energy drinks have an effect on me

which is more favorable than the effects of coffee and less favorable than

the effects of tea, but most energy drinks taste like shite so I don't drink

them.

In case anyone was curious, the Straight Dope says there's 250mg caffeine in

12oz coffee, 71.2mg in 12oz Jolt, 70 in 12oz Krank2O (whatever that is), and

55.0, 45.6, 37.2 and 22.5 mg in 12oz of Mountain Dew, Coke, Pepsi and

Barq's, respectively:

http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mcaffeine.html

A more comprehensive list can be found here (

http://www.econsultant.com/articles/caffeine-content-of-bottled-beverages.html)

and in the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine) for

caffeine. Caffeine information for tea is found here (

http://www.stashtea.com/caffeine.htm)... but when I make tea (or coffee, for

that matter), I make it double-strength.

I hae to have 12oz at least of something caffienated a day to keep

headaches at bay. Unfortunately, my choices of drink have been limited

by my recent diagnosis of diabetes. Mountain Dew used to be a favorite,

but I can't tolerate diet Mountain Dew. Now I settle for twice as much

diet Dr. Pepper
