Guest guest
I've skipped ahead to more recent postings, so that I can at least be more current with my replies. I'm so anal-retentive that I cannot delete older emails, so once I get caught up with today's mails, I'll be reading the older stuff. My husband calls our dentist The Nazi Dentist ( " is it safe yet? " ) (anyone remember that movie?). He insisted I didn't need novocaine through " simple " fillings and a horrendous root canal on a molar that had 3 roots. The tooth itself was fine until he did something that made it press the wrong way when I bit down. This caused an infection and he basically drilled all my tooth away. My brothers and I have a weird nerve that twists through the upper jaw, and it's nearly impossible to numb because the dentist can't find it. I ended up needing a crown for that tooth, and every time the Nazi drilled he said I didn't need novocaine and I was just being a baby. He finally shot my entire upper jaw on both sides with enough novocaine to deaden everything from my jaw to my eyes, and finished his work. We haven't been back to him since I got the crown, which is now broken....fortunately the hole is on the inside of my mouth, so it can't be seen, but I've been afraid to go to any dentist again because I know they'll say I need a new crown, which we cannot afford even with our dental insurance (CIGMA). cyn At 03:17 PM 11/4/2004 -0800, kayley555 wrote: OMG I know exactly where you are coming from.. i just went to the dentist and he was like putting the shots in and doing the root canal and he was like always asking if i was ok.. well to tell you the truth i am in so much pain all the time that it didnt even bother me what he was doing. It was like he could have used no novocaine at all and I would not of felt it. Guest guest
I am sure I know what you mean.... my jaw is now aching so badly from that root canal..... I asked my BF why it should be hurting so... because i took all the anti-biotic's and all the infection that was there,, should be gone... But it could be just from having my mouth open so widely when they did it. Not sure.. but i am having some terrible pain associated with it. I don't see him again till Thursday.. so I must wait i guess. I have no insurance so i don't have much of a choice as to the care I receive just hope they take payments and help when i need it the most. And pray at those times when I can't find someone compassionate enough to see me when i need to be seen and the knowledge to know when it is so bad that I need to go to the hospital. Generally I wait way to long and risk my life in doing so. Happens way to many times in my condition. But anyway's hugs you all..... I done way too much writing.. holding a pencil right now is like torture but am trying to get through my homework. My oldest here at home is sick with a virus and coughing and sneezing and the like.... yikes I know with my immune system I will get it also... and that means serious down time... ackkkk so am trying to get a bit ahead of my homework to make up for the down time love you all and thanks so much for being here for me.. You all will never know what you have done for me and the help that I get just from knowing that there is someone here, that will listen and know how i feel without question *blowing nose Huggles you lots Sophia -- Dentists, was Re: UGH..mad at myself I've skipped ahead to more recent postings, so that I can at least be more current with my replies. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
I have gone to the dentist myself and come back almost unable to open my mouth. I think its due to prolonged mouth open. It took a long time to settle down but it did. Norma -- Re: Dentists, was Re: UGH..mad at myself I am sure I know what you mean.... my jaw is now aching so badly from that root canal.....
