OK....while the flame is burning, I got the NTH adrenal 2007 NYC Marathon

runners, walkers and crawlers a real live training coach....

SIGNING UP RUNNERS FOR THE NYC MARATHON NEXT YEAR

On Sunday, November 5, 2006, The NTH NYC 2007 Marathon crew named

Melero as their training Coach. Melero will be preparing the NTH -Adrenals team

for next falls competition. He brings 10 years of coaching experience in

Dade and Broward Counties and was an Assistant Coach at Florida International

University. Coach Melero graduated from Florida International University with

a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education and a Master in Exercise Physiology.

He continues to be an avid researcher in the most cutting edge information

on sports nutrition and training techniques. for five years. He is credited

with developing Cross, currently the nation’s No. #1 800-meter runner,

into an All-American and state champion.

Next, I am working on getting Dr. Neville, a graduate of the

prestigious Bastyr University School of Naturopathic Medicine in Seattle,

Washington

to be on a team.

I am very serious about this. If you are serious, too, let me know.

yes, he specifically studied this as his sister has Hypothyroidism and he is

getting another masters now in the treatment of Adrenal/thyroid issues and

acupuncture. He will create a daily training plan for each of us based on our

conditions. And if we all have to crawl...we will crawl. Between

and I, we can get great press for the NTH-Adrenal and STTM forums. And my

nephew, a writer for Runners World, Popular Mechanics and other mags can

certainly help.

He knows our condition....and says we can do it!

Helen..I promise you if I am still living next year I will be at your

marathon if my son has to push me every step of the way, lol.

I think this is a wonderful way to draw attention to the horrible health

care thyroid/adrenal patients are getting. We have to get the word out somehow!!

Yes ..some people are doers and some are clappers and cheerers..what

would be the use of someone making beautiful music if there were no one to

listen to it?

But does this trainer have experience with hypothyroid/hypoadrenal

cripples? LOL Not to be negative, but how many miles must each person

walk/.crawl for their part? I am nto hopeful at this point that I would

be able to do more than walk. But for that I am in!

Let's look at it this way...we don't just have to be runners...

For those who aren't up to it yet, they can be athletic supporters!

Bring some damn awareness to this problem!!!

P.S. ~ Do I need to tell you that I was the class clown who always

talked/joked my way out of gym class starting in junior high? It

probably helped that my gym teacher " liked " me.

Then in high school, I took golf & tennis and hunting & fishing!

Hunting & fishing was most excellent - spent the whole class sitting

behind a desk, with the exception of two weeks - one when we did

archery, which I loved (watch out Geena !) and the other when we

shot at milk jugs with rifles! Not my thing!

Helen, (being serious, not smart-alecky) why not have your nephew

explain to your dad what's going on with your condition. Would that

help at all?

(P.S. ~ I understand if nothing will work...that's how my stepdad is...)

Val, you are sooooo funny!!! I was laughing hard. You all made my

night. Count me in if I am allowed to crawl. You all are a wonderful

support group, this is my first post but I have been lurking for a

while and learning so much.

There is no way I could make it to NY for a Marathon; we have the Chicago

Marathon every year - 26.2 miles! If I could train to do the Chicago Marathon

and he would help me with that, if that is acceptable.

Helen - If you can do this, I'M IN!!!! Seriously. Holy cow!

Is the the same Melero:

http://www.speedacademies.com/

http://ws1.stu.edu/Athletics/Sp2004_track.pdf

BTW - NYC usually requires you pre-qualify by having met a certain

marathon time in qualified marathons, or to enter the lottery to be

picked at random for entry. They get way more applicants than the 30-

35k runners that compete.

What is the status if we develop a team? Is he able to get us around

this?

I was going to wait until 2008 to try a marathon again, but this is

too good to miss.

That would be awesome to get enough people together in local hometowns to

have a marathon or walkathon on same day all across the nation to call

attention to the fact our AMA is letting us die with untreated

adrenal/thyroid.Get

the local news media involved!

I really don't blame doctors as much as the AMA and teaching

hospitals.Yep...docs should read more but they don't so they should be taught

better in

medical school! Get big Pharm. professors out of our teaching schools!

I couldn't make it to New York either; but if someone will help us to

train and we could do a local marathon... well, as long as I'm not

going to hurt myself, count me in!
