, how good is " pretty good " ? Around 100 most of the time? An A1c of 6

or less? It could be an internal infection, and your immune system could be

compromised by your dm. Didn't the doc tell you what the cause is?

Seeing the doc again sounds like a good idea.

---I had a half a nail removed a couple of weeks ago. Some kind of

infection had set in and he removed part of the nail to get to the

infected part. It hurt more from where the needle went in the back of

the toe than from where he removed it. Can't say I had any pain

hardly once the nail was removed.

I have nails that tend to be ingrown on the big toes so I go every 5

weeks to have them done. These did that before I was diabetic. But

this infection was not caused by an ingrown nail but some kind of

fungus. Never had that before. Don't know if its a diabetic thing or

not but every ailment seems to be! That's the first thing the doctors

say, this happened because you are diabetic. I am tired of hearing

it. Like why do people without diabetes get sick? What do they

blame that on?

Are you soaking your foot? I had to soak mine twice a day and I also

had antibiotics to take.

One of my toenails has a dent, not a smooth one but like a car dent.

It was finally diagnosed with a fungus, and I'm having to apply cream

TWICE A DAY to all my toenails!

I've read that if they get thick, filing them down is a good part of

treatment, along with the cream or whatever.

---Best see the Dr. with that then. I used the epsom salt also and

the ointment as well as oral antibiotics. My foot Dr. has really been

after me to watch the sugar.

At 280 I am sleeping. This disease is a lot of work. I am really

trying to keep one step ahead of it, no easy task.

Is there a way to keep the sugar from going as high as 280 after

eating? I have been that high before and I find now that I have cut

back and exercising after meals, I am not doing that. It stays in

the 100's. I am trying a lot of new food also and changing a lot of

things. I know you can't exercise with a sore foot. But maybe after

you are healed up you will be able to do more, even ride the bike if

possible. I picked mine up at a church sale for $10.00.

---After the foot dr. removed part of my nail due to a fungus he gave

me samples of Gordochom which is applied to the toe nail area with a

Q tip. This is supposed to help prevent the fungus from coming back.

We'll see. I cannot read the small print for the ingredients. Have

to find the magnifying glass if anyone wants to know anything else

about it.

This sort of thing often indicates a Staph infection - ask your doc about it.

And the non-healing is a diabetic thing, although if your numbers are good

it could be because of Staph - especially if it's spreading.. Vicki
