Guest guest
Hi, I know you are trying be helpful in providing info re: Methadone. Just b/c one person has become addicted to Methadone, does not mean another individual will too. I was on methadone from June '97 until Sept '99 with great pain relief!!!! My quality of life improved 100%. I had to switch medication to the fentanyl patch due to increase in nausea & vomiting. I am enrolled in college full time. I thank God every day for long-acting narcotics. If I was not on them, I would still be luck if I got out of bed every day & made to the couch, & maybe took a shower. Methadone works differently on people with chronic pain versus those who are taking it for drug depency or addiction. Any narcotic that you take for long periods of time require drug tapering or you will face the pangs of withdrawal. What may be bad for the goose, may not be bad for the gander. . I think this should not only apply pain meds but to doctors as well. Everybody's body is different, so drugs will act differently on all us. Please do not take this as an insult, but when I know how my life has dramatically changed for the better b/c of these meds, I have to state my side of the story. a
