You two are wild.

So, which questions creamed you?

(, reading over my shoulder, asked what that word was. I said it. He said,

" HMMMMMMM has a lot of 'm's!)

There were so many....the ones that spring to memory immediately: I hate

meeting new people. I hate social situations. I hear small noises that nobody

else is bothered by. I obsessively collect information. I have no idea what

other people's intentions are (I remember saying to marc once, when someone kept

calling me all friendly-like, " what does she WANT from me? " I also have had

several male 'friends' in my life who shocked and hurt me deeply by trying to

ram their tongues down my throat -- I NEVER, NEVER knew that was underlying the

'friendship'). I can remember any telephone number given to me anytime

anywhere. I would rather be alone that with other people. I prefer things to

people (I based that answer on that I would rather shelve the books at the

library than talk to the other library employees). I prefer a library to a

party.

The list goes on, of course, but I can't remember it all!

Sorry to say...I got a 27. But you know, I think we all have to

remember...our lives are seriously not normal. We might score

differently if we were in a more sane situation...or not.

I remember one time I took a " Do you have ADHD? " test online, and

scored 14...just a few points off falling into the ADHD range. I

mentioned it to the psychologist, and she said, " Raena, considering

the craziness your life, OF COURSE you're going to score high... "

Yup, that's me. Except for the numbers thing, being

dyslexic, I can't keep numbers straight.

P.S. Jacquie, are you a librarian?

It means that you have more autistic traits than the control group's average

of 18 (I think?) but fewer traits than 80 percent of autistic individuals

and family members of people with autism. Our scores on this list SHOULD be

high-ish. So actually yours is low!

But not as low as mine.

No, but I wish I were. :-)

I've volunteered at the library for two years -- it's one of the best things in

my life. Although I'm " only " a volunteer, I am the keeper of the children's

room -- I do everything there except order the books. I shelve, organize,

re-organize, put up seasonal and holiday displays of books, as well as thematic

displays depending on what teachers are assigning for research projects. Over

the past two years it has become MY domain, and now nobody does those jobs but

me. Makes me feel really proud and fulfilled. I generally spend 4-6 hours a

week at it. Sometimes comes with me, but mostly I do it on my own time

while he's in school.

Next semester I'll be enrolling in the online course my librarian counselled me

to take that will lead to a diploma for " Library Technician " . She told me to do

this about 6 months into my volunteering when, although still new to the Dewey

Decimal system, I brought her book and said, " I know the label says to file it

at xxx.nfd, but I just CAN'T. I'm sure it's wrong. " And it WAS.

Sorry to go on so long. It's just that the library is the most precious thing

in my life aside from my family, and some days ABOVE my family, since it's all

MINE!!!!!!!!

I got a 39. I'm not much of a people person. I have anxiety attacks when

pulling into Walmart. LoL! I find myself reading license plates and mailboxes

in my head. LoL! I sometimes do not know how to take people..especially jokes.

I can remember tons of phone numbers. I can remember my phone number and

address from when I was in grade school. The kids and and I will be

watching tv and I will hear noises outside and my snoopy self will be looking

out the window to see what it is. TeeHee! thinks I'm nuts! :) I'm not

good at chit chat at all! I have a hard time figuring out what to say in

replies. Hmmm...and my dx would be??? :)

Just a volunteer? No such thing. Every good library

runs on dedicated volunteers like you. I'm a

volunteer now too, in the same library where I was

librarian for 10 years. I quit to do the SAHM thing

and I now volunteer in acquisitions and deletions and

also as a fundraiser. The library is, and always will

be, my second home.

Tuna, how I envy you for being a librarian!!!

If I could, I would go to university and get the Library Sciences degree...but

at least the college diploma will help me get a job in a few years!

I wish I'd realized this was my passion much, much earlier.

It took me some time to realize the library was my

place. I've been a fry cook, museum curator, college

instructor, oh the list goes on and on.
