,

I don't believe that using this soap has anything to do with a zinc

deficiency. Pyrithione and zinc are a tried and true treatment for dandruff

(a fungus) and for dermatitis (believed to be an allergic reaction to

something). Yeast is a fungus and I believe that LS is an allergic reaction,

perhaps a kind of dermatitis, to something (I believe--kinds of food and/or

yeast itself). I believe that my vulvar skin is overly sensitive to yeast

even in small amounts and we all have some hanging around at all times. I

believe that the whiteness of my vulvar skin, when it happens, is because of

yeast and whatever malfunction it causes. If I don't have a yeast infection

for a long time the whiteness goes away.

If somebody is deficient in zinc they would need to take oral supplements, I

would think.

I have never had white spots on my finger nails and the three or four months

I used birth control pills 35 years ago was quite enough for me. They

mimicked pregnancy and morning sickness the whole time. I was neve so sick

again until I was actually pregnant. ~;)

I don't think that there is any detergent in this ZNP bar. They don't call

it soap. That was my name for it.

It has cetostearyl alcohol, cocamidopropyl betaine, corn starch, disodium

laury. sulfosuccinate, FD & C blue no. 1, fragrance, glycerin, hydrogenated

castor oil, mineral oil, PEG-14M silicondioxide, sodium potassium lauryl

sulfate, titanium dioxide, trisodidum HEDTA, water. Even with all of those

fancy names I find it very gentle stuff and it has caused me no irritation.

It doesn't sting at all. I really am sorry that more people don't try it

because it has been truly a lifesaver for me.

There is a wonderful zinc oxide ointment which many of the people on this

list use as a barrier or protectorant from urine or discharge. But I think

that it is just that--a protection and doesn't have any particular healing

properties. Maybe your permanent " pubic itch " would go away if you would try

it. Mine did.

Hope something helps.

Arline

I'm curous, Arline - since you had improvement from using ZNP soap, could

that suggest that you are zinc deficient? Do you have white spots on your

fingernails (a symptom of zinc deficiency)? There are conflicting reports

in the literature - some link zinc deficiency to candida problems, others

find no link (imho, probably the truth is that being deficient for almost

anything can put your system out of whack and make you susceptible to

yeast).

I'm curious about this cos I do myself have some symptoms of zinc

deficiency and I was on the pill for 12 years which can do that to you. I

am currently attempting to put the situation right with supplements. I'm

curious about ZNP soap, but unwilling to try it as i am sensitive to

detergents. Is there a zinc-containing cream out there I could try? I do

have a permanent " pubic itch " no matter whether I have a yeast infection or

not.

Thanks,

andrea
