Guest guest
Hi , not a silly question....Dr. told me to stay away from strong bath soaps like Zest and Dial and to use tepid not hot water to bath with or shower with. Slather on the Eucerin lotion and similar lotions for dry skin. That's the advice from one itchy person to another. Guest guest
Thanks so much, Frances! I looked Eucerin up on the web and found out that I definitely can't read German! LOL!! I will be making some changes in my soaps and lotions very soon! --- Frances Keller wrote: > Hi , not a silly question....Dr. told me > to stay > away from strong bath soaps like Zest and Dial > and to > use tepid not hot water to bath with or shower > with. > Slather on the Eucerin lotion and similar > lotions for > dry skin. My dermatologist recommends any " mild " , non anti-bacterial or non-deodorant soap and either the Eucerne or Cetaphil creams or lotions after any bath or shower. Also, longer water exposure time contributes to the dry skin. Carol T
Guest guest
I use Dove soap and Eucerne (sec?) body lotion. Lots and lots of body lotion. I put it on while my skin is still damp after a shower... and just keep refreshing it. I live in the 'high country' so fighting dry itchy skin has been a way of life for most of mine. Rita Remember, a diamond is just a lump of coal that survived the pressure and stress... Soaps and Lotions??? Diagnosed August 1 w/T2 and have a silly question. I have been having a problem with very itchy skin. I use Dial body soap and have been using lotions from Bath and Body Works which help for a little while but not long. Are there certain soaps and lotions that help the dry skin that I've been told comes along with diabetes? This itching is about to drive me CRAZY!!! Thanks in advance! Guest guest
Perhaps the body wash I could use in the shower. I'm trying to stay away from baths so I don't run the risk of any more yeast infections. Guest guest
---You can get yeast infection from taking baths?? Didn't know that. I thought it was high sugar that caused it and antibiotics. I eat yogurt when I take antibiotics. And the last infection I had was because my sugar was uncontrolled. I did not like the way I felt when the sugar was high. It was as though the brain took a holiday and left the rest of me behind. Not being able to think is not the way I wish to live. And that is exactly what happened when the sugar was allowed to run amuk. It has been difficult gaining control again. However discovering new foods, to me anyway, has been an adventure of sorts! It has been fun experimenting. It has been even better seeing my numbers come down. I also expect the weight will come down as well. I have sixty to lose. One day at a time. I have since learned a lot from the diabetic lists that I have recently found. Its just trying to get it all together and hope to have it all work the way its supposed to in order to achieve the level I need to get to. That is why I decided to cut a lot of what I was eating. Bread is one I eliminated except on special occasions like going out to eat and they serve a special hot bread. It is difficult to give up bagels as they are my downfall. So periodically I will have a half of one. Salads are now daily and I switch dressings for variety but don't put much on. I use a lot of seasonings and only fresh veggies, frozen if I have to for lack of fresh simply because I don't like frozen veggies that much. Discovered I like fish. Fresh fruit is dessert or sugar free jello with a bit of cool whip. My Bg's are not perfect but a lot better than they were. I am almost happy to see a 120 fasting because before they were 170 fasting and sometimes higher. Starting the day with a high number is not a good thing. Working on getting a lower fasting number. My aftermeals numbers are running good now. Today I was 140 after lunch and am 114 after dinner. Exercised by bike riding after dinner. I am testing a lot more. I found that by not testing it was easier to eat the wrong stuff and figuring not knowing what the sugar level was, it was fine!!! Stupid way to think huh?! I knew it was not fine but if I didn't see it, it didn't exist. I knew I was headed for disaster the way I was going but could not seem to get a grip and get out of the mode I was in. I have a good handle on it now. I take actos 45 mg and glyburide 20 mg. My last HbA1C was 8.5 down from 11. Hopefully, the next one will be a lot lower. Bp is normal and cholesterol is normal/ So thankfully, I don't have those two problems to contend with. Not yet anyway! This is a long journey with so much to learn. Guest guest
I'v been using Udder Butter (available at the Feed Store) for about a year with great results. It's different from Bag Balm in that it's more like a lotion, has a light, lemony smell, and comes in either tubes or a pump dispenser. The pump dispenser is about half the price of the tubes per ounce, and at the feed store they also sell great big syringes. The syringes work quite well to refill the tubes from the pump dispenser Robin G. The untrue never is; the true never isn't. Guest guest
Did you know that Synergy makes a lowcarb bagel? They don'tt taste exactly the same but theypre pretty good anyway -- they use almond and soy flour and you can have a half a one at a time without raising BGs too high. I don't kow synergy's URL offhand but I bet someone else does. Vicki In a message dated 01-08-10 22:20:32 EDT, you write: << It is difficult to give up bagels as they are my downfall.
