Do they work as well as, say, gold stars or yellow M & Ms? You know you can " give " to all manner of good causes with just a " click " ..... If you go to http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3 you can give food and care to animals. Then, hitting the tabs along the top of that page, you can also give to world hunger, breast cancer, child health, literacy, and/or the rainforest. Click here: http://www.freerice.com/index.php to give rice ( " 53,856,680 grains of rice donated yesterday. Over 62 billion grains donated to date " ) Water (etc)? - Use Ripple's Page (http://www.ripple.org) to do your google searches. So if you don't have friends to give " gifts " to or get " gifts " from, aren't social enough for all the latest " social media sites " and aren't motivated by " gold coins " or other " rewards " for helping out your fellow man, beast and/or tree...... try those. -jypsy ________________________________

I suppose I am, I'll admit to signing some pledges that sounded a little " iffy " or naive, or unlikely to succeed. I usually only send invitations for those that I think are really worthwhile. I've even sought out other people who are active at " playing the game " , who join causes such as animal rights, women's rights, gay rights, political actions such as starting investigations against Joe Arpaio, the sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona. I've sent them " friend requests " so that I can add them to my friend list and send them invites to causes I consider worthy. I've sent some of them messages to teach them a bit about autism, and have found the people who are the most willing to listen. > You know you can " give " to all manner of good causes with just a > " click " ..... I didn't know about those sites, although I have seen a " feed the hungry " thingie on someone's sign-off. I've clicked to do that, but it's somehow not very satisfying to do. > So if you don't have friends to give " gifts " to or get " gifts " > from, aren't social enough for all the latest " social media sites " > and aren't motivated by " gold coins " or other " rewards " for helping > out your fellow man, beast and/or tree...... try those. If you check my page there, you'll see I've been busy, signing pledges, recruiting others to sign them, and have donated a chunk of cash for ASAN. I do like this " gold coin " idea, as it doesn't cost me or the people I send them to, anything. And as I've said (somewhere) before, being homeless and cashless has always been one of my greatest fears. Been there once or twice, and it's no fun. Again, I just want to say that if anyone here is a member of change.org, and you have some coins but haven't used them, please send them to someone, so that change.org can fund a charity of your choice. You might as well use them, they don't do anyone any good just sitting there. Clay

I feel manipulated by that kind of thing. I go to the hunger site every day and click there; there's nothing funny about that. The advertisers pay per click, which makes sense. More clicks, more people have seen the ads. Odd thing for me is all the ads are from the US so I can't buy anything from them anyway! I've tried. When I make actual donations in money I don't need the approval of others over it. The causes I support mean something to me and it's enough to be in a position to help a little. Guest guest
I have gone to the hunger site daily until recently. I had a few nasty bugs on my computer and thought I'd gotten rid of them. Then when I went to the hunger site, the bugs started coming back. I wrote to the webmaster and informed them of this, and they want to see a copy of the reports of my cleanup programs. Unfortunately, I " m not able to do this, as my (other) computer crashed last night and will need to be reformatted. > > 2009/4/16 clay_adams : > > > Again, I just want to say that if anyone here is a member of change.org, and > > you have some coins but haven't used them, please send them to someone, so > > that change.org can fund a charity of your choice.
