Guest guest
Does anyone else get a bit aggrivated by all the off-topic chatter here? I expected there to be rational discussions of protocols, issues of general interest, course announements, and such. Instead, we get 100+ messages about escaped convicts, and a zillion replies to every message that someone doesn't like. I'm a member of several large lists, and this one has the most traffic by far, by a factor of 5 probably. Not more good information, or good content, just traffic. If I miss a week, there are literally hundreds of messages to go through, and most I just delete because they aren't relevant. I'm really trying to keep my input to things that are on topic and relevant to the masses, not just gripes about employers, general news, etc. And I'm really trying lately not to send the " way to go! " type of messages, which just make it hard on everyone to wade through. I just don't have time to wade through it all sometimes. Either most medics have way too much time on their hands, or we need to work on this! I really like this listerv, and there are so many folks here that have so much that I want to hear about, and I learn so much, it's really great! But the " noise " is hard to get through sometimes. Ok, that's all. I promise not to send ANY more messages to the group about this. I'm really trying. =Steve= -- P. , CCP, EMT-P Instructor Trainer NSC, AHA, ASHI SPT Enterprises, Inc. Guest guest
I agree with Steve. I would like to see us try to go back to emphasizing specific EMS, TDH and medical topics. There are numerous news services and web sites available that cover anything else you desire. Because of the large increases in volume of overall messages, I think we should try to par down and get specific to EMS issues so we CAN have the time to take advantage of it. Even if you propose to DELETE it still takes so much time to read each message enouh to know whether you want to delete it. I have not voiced an opinion in the past because of the predicted responses. Melody Malouf, JD, LP, NREMT-P > I agree! That's a great solution. I just go through and delete. Guest guest
Dave: I think this is a great idea but without TDH " stepping up to the plate " and setting some guidelines for this list (like Paramedicine.com finally had to do) everyone will continue to do this and disagree about it. One way to help cut the " bandwidth " AND be curteous to others is to edit out the addresses, previous messages, advertisements, indexes, ect. and send the relevant portions ONLY, especially on forwarded materials. You simply click and highlight the portion you want to delete by dragging the mouse over it then hit " delete " . It really only takes you a few seconds but saves the rest of us a tremendous amount of searching and time, especially with the large volume of information coming into the list now. Then readers have more time to participate and I beleive it also gives more credibility to the sender. Hope to see some future guidelines--voluntary or not. :-) Melody Malouf, JD, LP, NREMT-P > Melody: > > One possible solution might be to set up a separate e-group site for the > posting of the newsflashes that some of us would like to see off this list. > Those that want that sort of thing could also subscribe to that.
