Dee--

Isn't it funny how you can go along in life and be busy doing something

and a little thought just jumps into your head from NO WHERE!! LOL This

is what happened with the progesterone cream.

I had never thought to say anything about it before since I only use it

a half the month and it's a cream so I sometimes forget that I am using

it.

Thank goodness it is natural though----bad enough natural causes

problems.

I was weeding out back (what else is new!) when it just popped into my

head--- I was thinking---why is my estrogen not getting to where it

needs to be. Then I was thinking " receptors " which for a long time I

really didn't understand till you explained it one day a while ago.

Then I thought--aha!

I wonder if the progesterone is BLOCKING the estrogen???? When I first

used the progesterone cream it was because I was having PMS symptoms 2

weeks after my period instead of 1 week before. Doc said--- " I have just

the thing for that, just follow the instructions on the tube " . So,

trusting him--I did.

It was great at first. Kept me regular, mood swings were good (now I

have Xanax for that). A couple years later I started to get night

sweats if I didn't use it. There were a couple of times I stopped for a

couple months. One was when we switched insurance and they wouldn't

cover it anymore so I had to stop but then the doctor got it approved.

During the " stop " time, my hair would come out, got night sweats,

breasts got tender. 2 months using it again and I felt fine. Happened

again this year when I didn' use it before seeing (he wanted me

off ALL things before I saw him). SO I wonder if the night sweats and

hair loss are really a " withdrawal " thing or maybe I have really messed

myself up.

I see the endocronologist tomorrow. He SUPPOSEDLY did hormones as well

and will see. Now I wonder if there will be a false progesterone

reading.

I wasn't using it when I saw him (it was the first half of the month).

The thing now is---do I want to have night sweats and hair loss and stop

using it. I guess if I do--this would plead my case about estrogen.

Another issue is that April of 00 I was given Loestrin BC Pills to

regulate my periods which, even on the P cream were going haywire (15

days - 30 days apart or 2 periods one after the other). This was when

the burning got bad and stayed. I used them for 1 month it it was

horrible! I was slightly burning before I used them but after I was on

FIRE and it never quit. This was the start of everything for me

(combined with antibiotic use). If Loestrin has estrogen, why did it

make me feel so bad? Was it the progesterone too? or the fact that they

are synthetic hormones?

I was just reading all the notes and came on to this one. Please excuse me

for jumping in when I don't have a clue as to past histories, but I am on

something that seems to have worked quite well for symptoms of menepause and

it is GREENSPlus. This is a line of natural remedies and they have one for

alot of things ie: anitoxident, and PMS and menepause as well. I was

getting terrible nightsweats a couple of days before getting my period as

well as tender breasts you know all the good stuff and I started taking this

stuff PMS and it really worked well. Sorry for interrupting but though I

Lynn,

This is Marilyn again. After I got to thinking about my use of the Norplant

(it has been about 6 years ago) I had to tell you as best I can remember I

was basically haveing a light period every couple of weeks. Just like you

describe (except I don't know if yours is heavy or light). Anyway this

stopped as soon as I had the Norplant (progestin) out. I went back to birth

control pills. Unfortunately I did not use the ones recommended by Dr.

Vliet so I guess they were pretty high in Progestin too. Anyway gradually

over a couple of years my period just got lighter and lighter. The last

year I was on the pill I didn't have a period at all. Of course my doctor

said this was no big deal and that it just happened sometimes when you are

on the pill. I never really believed it was no big deal.
