Hi Tammy,

It was my Mom, but when she said she wanted to go home, I would put her in the

car and take a drive...she would know if I took a different route than the 3

previous times. We would come home and everything seemed to be OK. One time

she still said it wasn't her home and that her parents (who died 35 years

previous) weren't there...I told her that they laid her jacket on her bed, and

they probably just went for a walk...it worked. A short walk, a short drive

usually works with the 'other home' thing. Mom also had two of me...Joan her

daughter and Joan her friend, and similar with my siblings. When it came to

which Joan I was, I just went with the flow!

(hallucinations, shuffling feet, changed gait, delusions and paranoia). He has

been well medicated for 10 months, but the hallucinations are starting to come

back. Yesterday, I had the first hand experience of capgras syndrome (I think).

He called me saying that he was afraid that his home aid would not be able to

find him because he was lost. He looked around him and said that it looked like

his apartment but it was not his apartment. He named all the things around him

that were his but it just wasn't right. I said I'd be right over, but he

couldn't understand how I would find him. I rushed over and after a short walk

and return to his apartment he was okay. Any suggestions about ways to handle

these episodes and medication changes that might help.

but I know that soon we will need full-time care.
