Guest guest
Here is one post that details the painting process. Hi Amy, I painted it in the hour she had it off (actually she had it off for about 2 hours). I had to paint it twice - long story. Do not use the special plastic paint from 's (Plaid Plastic Paint). It peeled right off in less than 1 week. I would try and find a non- toxic primer (not sure where to find). I used a primer (applied with a foam brush) but I got it from my father-in-law, a painter, so it's not available in stores. It dried really fast and I helped it with the hair dryer (less than 30 min). Then I used regular acrylic paint from Wal-Mart (Delta Ceramcoat). I also used the hair dryer on this and applied two coats. With the hair dryer's help, each coat was finished in less than 10 min. I used one of the nicer 1 1/4 " synthetic paint brushes for acrylics (also from Wal-Mart, ~$3) to apply the base coat. I then painted a design on it in acrylic paints. You can get about 20 colors for $5 at Wal-Mart. I used synthetic paint brushes. I got a set of 4 different sizes from Wal- Mart, ~$5. The design dried fast. I'm planning on putting a coat of acrylic interior/exterior varnish on it tonight (applied with a foam brush). The varnish takes about 30 minutes to dry, but I'll leave it off the entire hour. You can see na's first paint job in her folder. The second looks very similar.
