O negative if I recall correctly but I don't think blood type (A,B,AB or O)

has anything to do with autism as it just indicate the kind of carbohydrate

(sugar) found on the surface of blood cells. It might play a role regarding

the immune system (the mention about sialic acid is a giveaway in the

wikipedia url below, I've seen it mentioned a few times in many publications

about the latest influenza) but I don't mean to imply that autistics have

any deficiency or superiority regarding the immune system.

There are a lot of details in the wikipedia page about blood type:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABO_blood_group

This week, I'm slightly less busy so if you have more questions regarding

biology, I should be able to provide answers.

What blood type are you? I just read that an informal count shows that

people with Asperger's and autism are more likely to have type A. I am

type A+.

I'm A+ too, but I wonder...

A is a very common blood type, and most people are +. So is an autistic more

likely than the general population to have A+ blood, and is this increased

likelihood large enough to be statistically significant rather than the chance

factors in random sampling? That is, is Probability(A+ blood | autistic) =

Probability (A+ blood)? I tried the link to find out, but the link didn't work.

PASS IT ON!

Visit http://www.thehungersite.com to give food to the hungry with just

a click -- every day and at no cost to you.

HOW IT WORKS

When you click the " Give Free Food " button (once a day per person) at

http://www.thehungersite.com, this simple action gives over a cup of

fortified food to a hungry person.

It costs you nothing. Funding is paid by site sponsors and food is

distributed by two leading nonprofit hunger relief organizations: Mercy

Corps and America's Second Harvest. (A valid site -- I checked it out -- JP)

citizens can change the world: Indeed it's the only thing that ever has. "

You're not that different. As I mentioned the other day, I'm an O- myself,

and I usually get priority treatment at blood banks because type O- is a

universal donor and it's not the most common blood type out there. The only

bad part is that I can only receive from someone of the same blood type.

would be a great idea to do that, but they will not let me as i am borderline

anemic. which is the reason i have never gone to a blood bank to get my blood

type. i also take quite a few meds., another reason they wouldnt take my donated

blood. i have gone there before and they will not even test for type if i cannot

donate. thanks for the idea though.

If you take " quite a few meds, " you should be getting some blood

tests done every year. (My doctor has mine tested annually, and I

don't take much other than a NSAI.) Maybe when you get your blood

tested you could ask them to tell you the type.
