Guest guest
Hi and everyone.. Thanks hon, I appreciate that, but *ouch* so sorry you're hurting today.... but I'm so glad the hormone creams seem to be starting to work for you. I know the hardest part is when we have those flare ups we're ready to just 'give up' but that's when it's most important not to. *sigh*. And it can take a long time for that tissue to totally regenerate, but hang in there girlfriend, don't give up the fight. Just don't use it for a few days or more, but then I'd go back to it. For those who might be new. If you're going to try the Estrace (estradiol 17b) or testosterone hormone creams, I just want to say this is NOT for pain relief, nor is it a 'quick fix' and definitely NOT to be overused. The Estrace is a hormone cream and typically we use just a small peanut size dab topically and I suggest a dab on a Q-tip to do a 'twirl' in the clitoral shaft if you have pain there as well. What it eventually will do is to rebuild and feed and nourish that skin so that you won't have any pain down the road (hopefully) it can give you back your color, tone, resiliency, elasticity, stretchability, etc etc.. so that you no longer rip or tear but it does take time (took me a full six months) By the way you can get the Estradiol 17b compounded and it may have less of the irritating base ingredients than the Estrace. But I myself stuck with the Estrace (brand name for Estradiol 17b) You most likely 'will' still have flare ups as told us, but they'll get less and less as time goes on. Initially I could only use the Estrace cream approx. only once every 3-4 days but I was in extremely bad condition. After about 2 mos, I was able to increase it to maybe 2-3 times a week, to eventually almost every night....... but this did take six months to reach that level . In the meanwhile I'd use soothing over the counter creams but nothing with an alcohol base for some pain relief, (I did not go near a steroid) *sigh* For those who not so bad, and the Estrace doesn't irritate, that's great,.. once a night I would think would be plenty.....(BUT NO MORE) in 'my' opinion and you'd probably have sooner results. But again... DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN MORE PAIN by thinking I'll use more ok? By the way bedtime is best because of less activity, no walking, no movement, less bathroom visits and wiping, etc.etc. This is not a case of where 'more is better' and you need patience. If there is a lot of pain just let up usage, let things 'simmer down' a bit before going back. If one is menopausal and your doctor suggests using the cream intervaginally or the Estring (which is also Estradiol 17b) that can work as well, but again, 'I' wouldn't use too much and still use that tiny dab topcially. OOOPS another thought, this can also work very well for NON-menopausal women of any age... as very little is absorbed systemically if you only use it topically from all I've read. The hardest part is to get a physician to prescribe it for someone who's younger. as they often have a real 'mindset'. *sigh*.. but hormone creams are well documenting for restoring and rebuilding tissue and I've seen it recommended for very young children (as little as 3) if the vag skin is fusing and I've seen it work for them as well. *sigh* poor little things. One other thing,*sigh* it doesn't matter what your hormone levels may read and they can be fine (and why most doctors won't prescribe this for younger women) but my levels were fine but I 'still' needed to apply the cream directly to saturate the receptors before this worked.. Well all of this is just my opinion and my experience, but sure hoping it may help someone out there, and I know it's certainly not the cure for everyone, but sure was mine and many others I've talked to as well. wishing everyone a pain free weekend!!! (nancy hope your back to wearing slacks again soon *chuckle*) (((((((((hugs)))))))))))) Dee~
