Guest guest
Believe me when I tell you that the casting is the hardest part. Give the treatment a chance, you can always quit but if you don't go through with it now you might regret it later and your window of opportunity will be gone. Good luck to you! Guest guest
, I second everything you've already been told. This REALLY will be over before you know it. Stick with it, you'll be happy you did. > Did anyone get 2nd thoughts after they already went thru with the > casting and paid for the helmut? Guest guest
It's totally normal to have second thoughts, but the bands really do work. Just put it in perspective, what's a few months in a band when it will correct your child's head for life? One of the things that got me through the entire process was knowing that someday my daughter will be grateful for what I did. And I would hate for her to wonder why I didn't help her when I had the chance. I never wanted to have any regrets about not fixing something that could be fixed so quickly and easily (ie it's non-invasive). This is a great support system, so just know that you will always have people here you can turn to. & Jordyn (DOCband Grad 12/03) Dallas > Did anyone get 2nd thoughts after they already went thru with the > casting and paid for the helmut? Guest guest
, everything your are feeling is very normal. These are our babies were talking about here! You should be nervous, I know I was very nervous for about a week after was banded and then I wondered why I fussed so much about it? It really is something that is painless and fast. You think 12 weeks will take forever, but it really does fly by! No, there is no guarantee that cranial orthsis will work, but.....the worse case scenerio is that your baby's head will stay the same. Banding can make the headshape worse as well, but that is only when the treating ortho/clinician is not educated/experienced in Plagiocephaly and it's treatment. This is why is is VERY IMPORTANT to " interview " your ortho/clinician before treatment begins to make sure YOU are comfortable with the level of expertise this person has. Good luck, if you have completed the casting, it is smooth sailing now! Take a deep breath and relax. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the whole process! Guest guest
I didn't have the second thoughts (I always felt that doing the band would get rid of the worst kind of second thoughts - the ones that would come a year or two later that maybe I should have banded but didn't, and then it's too late!) but just wanted to let you know that it really will all be a distant memory soon. My daughter wore her band from 5-7 months, she's now 13 months and it seems like ages ago that the weekly trips to Cranial Tech were part of our lives... I had a mom stop me yesterday at my older daughter's gym class to comment on how wonderful 's head looks (she knew about the band)- try to keep those kind of things on your mind, and hang in there!!! Guest guest
I've been getting second thoughts like . I know it's the best thing to do for Ian but then I hear horror stories about ill-fitting helmets, inexperienced Orthotists, etc. and I worry. How do I make sure my Orthotist is experienced? It helps to know had success at Loma but still...I know I'll go through with it and it helps that my husband is set on doing it (and won't let me change my mind). I guess I won't feel ok until he has the helmet and is doing well. Melisa Anaheim, CA First Appt. for Ian is on Monday, 1/12 at Loma
Guest guest
We had second thoughts, too. (What if it doesn't work, what if he can't adjust to it, are we wasting our time and money, etc. etc.) But soon after he got it and I saw how quickly he adjusted, I didn't worry as much. And once I started seeing some improvement, I was so glad we did it. Good Luck! and MLB <Groove79@...> wrote: I've been getting second thoughts like . Guest guest
I had surgery with Dr. A and his team on 6/22/07 and I would not give it a second thought about doing it again or recommending them to others. In fact I would be more leary of having surgery in the States. I have had several people that I know that have had surgery around where I live and several have had complications. I know of two people that have had it done and said they wished they never had it! I have been reading this board a long time and I have never heard anyone make comments like that. I just think that Dr. A and his team are very professional and very experienced, they are very caring and want the best for us and our health, not just our money! I am afraid that that is what is wrong with some of our doctors here in the States. Bobo DOB 6/22/07 253 245/199/140 Second Thoughts Has anyone seen the page entitled "would you have your surgery where you couldn't drink the water"? It is a page by a lab band surgeon in Arizona.http: //azlapband. com/_wsn/ page8.html I had heard such great things about Dr. Aceves that I had no worries but now I am a skeptic. Has anyone from Dr. Aceves had any complications, if so were you able to get medical attention to get them fixed? How long did it take? Were there costs that you had to pay for the care to fix it?Thanks Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
i love dr a, the staff, the hospital and would not hesitate to send my child there for surgery there if needed. the arizona doctor should be more specific regarding practice to practice rather than make a statement regarding an entire country. but then i guess he could be held liable - i dont know. just my opinion. caprisevanessa bobo <vjbobo2003@...> wrote: I had surgery with Dr. A and his team on 6/22/07 and I would not give it a second thought about doing it again or recommending them to others. Guest guest
I had surgery with Dr. A on 9/15 and my first fill there in Mexicali on 11/15. My husband is an R.N. with a speciality in infection control and works with a large hospital in that area on the infection control committee. He says that if all hospitals were as clean and if all care was as professional as in the hospital Dr. A. uses in Mexicali, we would not have the problems we have in the United States. The care from all the Drs. and the staff is far and above anything I have ever experienced. If you would like to email me personally, I will be glad to give you more information.skromines@...On Jan 4, 2008 12:57 AM, wcugurl05 < JWHLBH2@...> wrote: Has anyone seen the page entitled " would you have your surgery where you couldn't drink the water " ? Guest guest
Thanks soooo much! I just needed an encouraging word. It helps to have wonderful people like you on the message board! Good luck with the continued weight loss. Guest guest
Here's another couple of questions to consider. Would you want your surgery done in a hospital where they amputated the wrong limb on a patient? or worked on the wrong side of the brain? Where did these things happen in the USA? I'm sure you'd never be able to find out before you went in for your surgery. You might even get the same doctor that made those mistakes. As for the water question. Put a filter on your home water system and watch that filter over the month to see what happens to it. I have a water filtration system on my city "treated" home water. The filter is always a dark dark brown when I change it out at the end of the month. And this is in "paradise" (California). I honestly doubt the water situation is any better here than there. It just takes us longer to get sick on it because the govt keeps the poison levels under the legal limit. But it all adds up over time. I, for one (of many) have only good things to say about my experience in Dr. Aceves care and hospital. This biggest challenge is, after the surgery, don't take your bandages off too soon, keep them clean, and don't get them wet. The shoulder pain is a b----, but it, too, shall pass. Guest guest
That info is on Dr. Simpson's website and you have to understand, he is losing a LOT of business to Mexico so of course he is going to try to sway people from going there. As someone who lives in Phoenix and has researched Dr. Simpson, I haven't always heard good things about him. I don't think he is a very honest person nor do I think he is very scrupulous. I am not a patient of Dr. A (yet), so I can't speak on his behalf. But I can tell you that from what I heard, Dr. Simpson doesn't have a whole lot of moral integrity.caprise holmes <capriseholmes@...> wrote: i love dr a, the staff, the hospital and would not hesitate to send my child there for surgery there if needed. the arizona doctor should be more specific regarding practice to practice rather than make a statement regarding an entire country. but then i guess he could be held liable - i dont know. just my opinion. caprisevanessa bobo <vjbobo2003 > wrote: I had surgery with Dr. A and his team on 6/22/07 and I would not give it a second thought about doing it again or recommending them to others.
