Because if you don't take NPH there's really no reason to snack at all. If you're hungry, try eating more salad with dinner...I also find a small amount of almonds -- about 16 grams or 10 almonds -- at the end of dinner helps me to not be hungry after dinner too. Guest guest
A glass of water with pure psyllium husk powder is a good replacement for a bedtime snack. It's far enough from meals to avoid inhibiting absorption of nourishment, it's filling, and it is fiber. But don't take it within an hour or two before or after vitamins or meds since it can keep them from being absorbed. Tom the Actuary

Guest guest
My favorite snack is diet jello with tons of whipped cream (I use heavy whipping cream, splenda, and vanilla and put it in the cuisinart) or the whipped cream and raspberries/strawberries. I just read somewhere that someone makes his own " icecream " with heavy whipping cream, splenda, vanilla and ice in a blender but I have not tried it. <<The worst problem that I have is wanting to have a snack late at night. I think that is the reason my blood sugar runs high in the mornings. It usually runs around 140 or 150 now..then it starts dropping as the day goes by. Does anyone have any good ideas for a late night snack that won't raise my bs levels in the mornings? Patsy>>
Guest guest
Be sure to try these early enough that you can test at one hr the first time you try them. For me 4 oz of milk jumps me way high (100 pts) and makes me sweaty. Heavy cream does not do that to me. I think milk has like 5 sugars and the cream has no sugar. Strange huh? It's like I can eat cheese but not yogurt. Some people can eat bread and other just can't tolerate it (like me) :-( > Does anyone have any good ideas for a late night snack that won't raise my > bs levels in the mornings? > Patsy > <<actually, a snack before bed is the best thing you can do for your blood sugar in the AM balance out your carbs and protien. a few grahm crackers with an 8 oz glass of milk is perfect. popcorn (half a microwaved bag) and milk crackers and cheese.
