Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Regarding the Accutane and vulvodynia relationship. Here's what happened to me. In 1988 I went to a dermotologist for treatment of adult onset acne. He put me on antibiotics and kept me on antibiotics for 4 years. My vulvar pain started in 1992. I quit taking the antibiotics and there was no change in my vulvar pain. In 1993 I went on Accutane and the acne problems went into remission but my vulvar pain was unchanged. In 1995 the acne started coming back again so I went on Accutane again. No change in my gynecological problems. In 1998 Dr. treated my yeast infection and I was fine gynecologically. Started having acne problems again in January 2000 and took Accutane again for 4 months. Was still fine gynecologically. My experience was even with the amount of Accutane I took, there was no relationship between Accutane and my vulvar pain. The antibiotics I took before I took the Accutane is what set the stage for all my gynecological problems. I have not taken an antibiotic since 1993--that is how afraid I am of them now. Additionally, Dr. has told me not to take them unless they are necessary. I don't know anyone who has had to take Accutane three times. Sometimes I am so lucky. Hope you're all having pain free days . . . . Robin
