When I do baths, I use table salt. It is really soothing and helps with

inflammation. Dee is right though, if you do it too often for too long it

can be drying, especialy with LS or other skin disorders. I did the salt

baths for a good 2 months after surgery twice a day. I definatly recomend

it.

Hi ladies,

I bought my sea salt from a holistic store here in town. Be careful to buy

just plain old sea salt..as some come in scented varieties. I found the

sea-salt and Aveeno sitz baths my saviour in my times of worst

pain/inflammation.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Hugs,

Carla :o)

dee,

sorry to ask this question as i know you;ve covered it many times, but what is the % of the testosterone cream you are using? I remember you said to use the "natural" kind as opposed to the "methyl". Is it a prescription? I am currently using Estrace cream 3x week at bedtime (just a pea-size drop like you said :) and it seems to be helping. I'd also like to try the testosterone cream. Thanks again!!

Table salt???? Isn't that a little too harsh???? I'm

surprised that your dr didn't tell that you should have

used either epsom salts or baking soda b/c it much gentler

to the vulvar area and it promotes better healing.

How come you are using table salt instead of one of the

others? I'm interested to know how this promotes healing

and why you find it so soothing. The more info I can get

the better to pass on to others.

I only use a Tablespoon of table salt to a full bath tub. The doctor told

me that sea salt would be good too, but that it is harder too find and she

found that her patients did just fine for the most part with table salt. Of

course she trys other things when patients dont tolerate the original

sugested treatment. I did ask her about Epsom salt, and she told me that

many patients find that irritating, especially after surgery. So she doesnt

recomend it.

Hope that answers your questions

Hello, I bought my sea salt from a pet store. I tried doing the baths for a period of time and although they seemed somewhat relieving at the time I was doing the sitz bath, I still hurt just as much after I was done. I really hope it helps you all though. Take care, P.S. The Aveeno soaks I just found at a drug store (Osco to be exact) and like the sea salt it was only relieving at the time I was soaking. I was told to be sure to get the kind that has the blue lettering on the box as there are different varieties. Re: Salt for sitz baths? Carla,

My sea salt doesn't have a scent in it. I can't afford the

aveeno but I'm glad to know that the things that you are

using is of help to you.

Dee,

I guess I will just have to check the archives. When you

say " overdone " do you mean about how much you put in the

water? I tried the epsom salts for my sitz bath one time

and it didn't do anything for me. But it's good to know

that it can be of help to the sore muscles.

Also as I told I felt like that table salt was

too harsh for the vulvar area I wonder why it isn't if

that's the case.

, if you know the answer to this let me know.

Thanks for letting me know that you use it. I just thought

it was too harsh which is why I asked you about using

something else instead.

Sea salt is produced by several companies. It contains many other minerals as

found in the original seawater. Various brands of sea salt will definitely not

have the same analysis. Dead sea salt actually contains very little

(percentagewise) of sodium chloride.

Here is a url which lists the quantities of minerals in one type of sea salt.

http://www.choosecra.com/html%20pages/homepage/product%20info/celtic.html

Here is one pertaining to the Dead Sea salt. (I do not necessarily believe what

they say but they may be right).

http://www.kawar.sk/difference.htm

" While common sea salt contains about 97% sodium chloride (NaCl), ), the Dead

Sea salt contains only 12 - 18% of this mineral. The rest is composed of

Potassium, Magnesium, Bromide and other minerals. "

>Nope, sorry I don't have any of those links for sea salt and VV... but I know

that salt can be healing if not overdone. (too much can be drying) I prefer

the Epsom salts (even for sore muscles I find it great) but some say that

bothers them, if that's the case then I'd say just plain ol' table salt would

work, salt can cauterize a wound and why often swimming in the ocean makes some

feel better as well.

Hi Kristy,

When I've used the Aveeno...I only use about 1/3 of a packet at a time. Then

I throw in a 1/4 of sea salt. The salt may be drying...but the oatmeal

seemed to counteract the effect. I haven't had a flare-up in some time

(THANKS be to God!) ...but, I still do occasionally haul out my sitz for my

hemorrhoids! It's a handy thing to have around. I got my first one after

the birth of my child. It was a tremendous relief to my bottom after

child-birth.

Hope soon...you are rid of the " beast " for good! You're in my thoughts!

Hugs,

Carla :o)

Thanks Carla for writing to me. I don't have any oatmeal

in the house. Mom says that we do but I can't find it. I

will just stick with my mixture. I'm not comfortable with

trying something new.
