> that some believe mercury is a harmful substance

No one disputes that. Mercury is poisonous. That's been a settled matter

for some time. It should be noted, however, that when we're talking about

vaccines, we're not discussing mercury per se, but thimerosal, which is a

molecule that has an atom of mercury as part of its structure. Therefore,

receiving an injection that contains thimerosal is not the same thing as

receiving one that contains atomic mercury. And in any event, it's moot --

thimerosal has been removed from almost all vaccines anyway.

> and may contribute to autism? What in tarnation is offensive about that?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I get really angry when I hear bad

science, especially bad science that's been discredited.

> I have the right to such 'thinking'

No one said you didn't. If you want to believe that mercury causes autism,

you go right ahead -- no one is going to try to stop you, even if they

could, just like no one will ever convince a Flat Earther that the earth is

actually round.

> and really what is wrong with throwing ideas into the mix.

Some ideas aren't really worthy of discussion. If a scientist today were to

start talking about phlogiston in anything other than an historical context,

other scientists would regard it as a waste of time because the phlogiston

theory of combustion was discredited centuries ago.

> I got sick from the vaccine

I'm very sorry to hear that, but that doesn't mean that the vaccine was

itself inherently harmful. Some people are allergic to peanuts, too, but

that doesn't mean that peanuts themselves are dangerous.

EXACTLY! Thank you!

that some believe mercury is a harmful substance, and may contribute to

giving her anymore prevented her from losing the ability to walk, like

some Rett Syndrome girls.

In addition, as for my experience..... When they gave *me* the MMR in

the hospital after I gave birth to her, ALMOST BY

FORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was MAD!!!!!!!.....not only did I have to

recover from a c-section, but I got sick from the vaccine, to the point

I couldn't sit up, and had a severe arthritis attack. And to think they

pump babies full of that crap when they are teeny tiny defenseless

And, just to reinforce what Jypsy has already said: if this advice is sound

for everyone else, it should also be sound for you. I trust, therefore,

that you won't be making any more posts to the list complaining about other

people complaining about your posts? You'll just be hitting the DELETE key?

And as I (basically) said - we're free to " whine " all we like. *You*

also have a delete key. You can b*tch at us or take your own advice,

A mecp2 mutation causes Rett Syndrome.

This is common knowledge.

Getting vaccine preventable diseases can kill your daughter with RS.

ALSO nearly common knowledge.

It's common ENOUGH knowledge.

Rett Syndrome is caused by a mecp2 mutation, except when it's caused by CDKL5.

It's NOT caused by shots. End of story.

But here is the rub.........those shots MIGHT make the symptoms

worse, or cause symptoms that might not otherwise have appeared if

the shot had not been administered. Erring on the side of caution,

they call it. As I stated, I did not give my daughter any more shots

as a toddler once I knew she had 'something going on'.....and I don't

have proof or statistics....but my question remains....if I

had....would she now be wheelchair bound, rather than mobile? A

legitimate question. Has anyone checked into it in depth. I doubt it.

I don't really want to get involved in this whole thing, but I just

want to add that we ingest far more mercury via the our food,

especially if we eat anything from a lake, river or ocean. I wouldn't

be surprised if it's found in more foods than that, especially with so

much being imported from countries with fewer regulations, such as

within the manufacturing process.

Compared to the amount of mercury we come across in everyday life, the

mercury found in vaccination shots should not even be worth mentioning

(which someone has pointed out is no longer the case, but I don't know

if they meant just North America, the UK or that worldwide it is

practice of the past). I think a baby is most affected by genes and

heredity, and it's environment, both in the womb and later. Besides

mercury, there's a whole slew of toxins we take in everyday, most of

it due to industry and manufacturing. Synthetic estrogens alone,

which are found in an array of products, should be a lot more alarming

if anyone's really worried about future generations and the prevalence

of cancers and other serious health problems. They are most dangerous

to the developing baby, not those already born, but it's being used in

so many products (as are other manufactured questionables) by

companies that have the power to keep on doing what they do. And in

the meantime, people go with these notions, such as with blaming

mercury in vaccination shots, which helps to distract us from the real

issues. It's a scare tactic, and it seems, to me anyway, that it's

only purpose is to throw the blame elsewhere, like bait.

Genetics says you're wrong.

Rett Syndrome is caused, no matter what your conspiracy theorist buddies say, by

specific genes.

Learn to fact. Thanks!

It is an ASD.

It's also caused by....

*drumroll*

a mecp2 mutation. Except in cases where it's caused by a cdkl5 mutation.

I don't understand why this is so hard to comprehend.

Hello,..... well, I wouldn't exactly say it is 'common knowledge

,

since I had to tell my doctor (MD) what Rett Syndrome even is. It is

pretty well known though in the Rett Syndrome Family community, if

there is such a thing. I went to a Rett Seminar once, and what I

noticed was there were alot of *BIG HEADS (*aka egos). There was too

much " me, me, I'm special " .... type of garbage on display.

It's not hard to comprehend, but it doesn't mean vaccinations are

safe, does it? They also might not be safe for kids with genetic

mutations, in a particular *way* that might not affect a child

without a genetic 'difference'. How a person responds biologically to

a vaccine VARIES.

**virtual applause for Parrish**

-- Re: Why would an autistic person be 'offended'

> that some believe mercury is a harmful substance

Vaccines are safer than whooping cough, for example, especially for girls with

RS who have unusually high rates of pneumonia.

Or safer than measles, which can cause SSPE, especially for girls with RS, who

have unusually high rates of seizures.

Or than diptheria, again, breathing problems.

Or polio...again...breathing problems.

Or mumps, adn we're back to seizures.

Vaccines are not the enemy here.

First, look at the links I put at the end of the other post I just did.

As with all conditions, doctors try to categorize things by what they can see.

Since there is a stage in Retts that looks very autistic, and it occurs during

the time when diagnosis is most likely to occur, it was categorized at first as

an autism-spectrum disorder. This was many years ago, when it was first

recognized. Some places on the web are not fully updated, and show the gradual

shift from " the most severe autism condition " to " not autism, but part of the

Spectrum, " and now, " not autism, but showing autism-like symptoms at certain

times. "

Over the last several years they are finding that most components do NOT fit in

well with ASDs. Instead, they now know that it is a degeneration caused by a

genetic disorder, with an autistic-like phase of behaviors and social

withdrawal.

Diagnosis practice changes as better understanding is developed.

I'm talking about real life, not woulda coulda shoulda. You just

haven't made the effort to SEE the picture. Those da*% vaccines

aren't as great as you think they are. Vaccines aren't the perfect

solution......similarly it isn't perfect, the choice I had to make at

the time.....THERE IS NO PERFECTION, THE WORLD OF DISEASE ISN'T MADE

PERFECT JUST BECAUSE THERE ARE VACCINES. A magic bullet they ARE NOT!

It isn't as black and white as some here would like to think....it

actually is rather grey......how bout that book Sophie's Choice.

Remember that. Well, sometimes life mandates a 'catch 22'

scenerio....and YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE FROM TWO *FAULTY CHOICES (*KIND OF

LIKE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS) BASED ON YOU, NOT ON THE HERD MENTALITY.
