UofM Drs Haefner & Advincula & WSU Dr.Sobel

To Dena & others who want to know about my experience with these doctors,

Wayne State University Dr. Jack Sobel. It took me nearly 4 months to see him. I was sent to Dr.Sobel with the vulvodynia diagnosis by my incompetent OB/GYN. Dr. Sobel, is a specialist in OB/GYN infectious diseases. He was nice and seemed to be understanding but I consider him to be a liar. In front of two of his students he told me that my pain was most likely caused by damage to the nerves from the episiotomy. But in my chart he wrote, "most likely NOT related to episiotomy." He had me try Premarin cream again and backingsoda sitz baths. After 2 visits with Dr.Sobel he referred me to another OP/GYN who specializes in Bartholin's glands. If your vulvodynia is related to infection then he might be the doctor for you, but I would have to wonder if he tells you one thing and writes something else.

University of Michigan Dr. Hope Haefner, very nice and knowledgeable. I saw her the first time and the forth (last) time I went to UofM. She has a student do the Q-tip test with her right next to them teaching them how to do it. Had a lot of options for treatments that she discuses with you. She and the student do the initial exam, but then she send you to another doctor (in my case Dr. Advincula) in the clinic for the followup appointments and managing the treatments. At the end of the my last appointment with Dr. Haefner she mentioned using a nerve block, said she would be right back after she conferred with Dr. Advincula, and left the room to never to return.

Dr. Arnold Advincula UofM vulvar clinic. He had me try using Elavil and Neurontin This person is the biggest A**H***! He never even examined me, he seemed to be nervous during my appointments. In my chart he wrote that I refused to be examined, that I was hostile, uncooperative, and refused treatment. He came in the room after Dr. Haefner left and told me he didn't want me at the clinic any more, don't come back, you are finished here, etc. What an ****** . I would not send my dog to see him!!!!! Sorry if I'm alittle hostile about him but I AM.

So Dena what was your story with him?

I notice you mentioned a lot of Michigan doctors, so I'm assuming you live

in Michigan. I do, too, and have seen a million doctors, including Dr.

Advincula at U of M. Personally, I had a bad experience with him, but I

have an appt. with Dr. Haefner on Feb. 2, so I hope to fare better. Did you

ever actually see Dr. Haefner? What was she like?

I've also heard of Dr. Sobel? Was that appt. worth it for you?
