Guest guest
Maddy, I don't have any stinging at the vaginal entrance but I do have some skin (part of it the hymenal remnant) bothering me and adding to my vulvodynia painwise. Also yes taking testosterone can cause some women to have excess hairgrowth and the lowering of the voice. As for the enlargement of the clitoris I'm not sure but I would guess that it's possible. I took a medicine for the endometriosis called Danazol and it had the potential to cause excess hair growth, lowering of the voice, breasts enlarging. I have also found out that for some women that took this drug the lowering of the voice was a permanent thing. I don't know if that drug caused the enlargement of the clitoris though. Sorry that I can't help more. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Owner: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Endo_Vulvodynia_PCOS http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zoladexforendometriosis __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Antonia. I was also wondering whether removal of these hymenal remains would improve my pain.Im seeing a new gyn in the near future so am going to ask.Do you mean that yours just stretches but wont tear?I dont know how unusual that is.When I touch these horrid little remains I can definitely feel stinging and soreness in them but like you say its a frightening prospect that you might make things worse. In your first paragraph do you mean that the pain transfers to the urethra from the hymen or have I got that wrong.I do feel that this is the case with me.Its a sort of shared wall so this is possible I suppose. I was very surprised to know I still had a hymen or remains of it as I thought it disappeared after having intercourse. Thanks Maddy
Guest guest
Maddy that's my case. I have pain in the entrance, where the hymen is, and in the entrance of the uretra -the part corresponding to where the hymen is. my hymen never ruptured. one of the doctors i saw thought my pain was due to mechanical pressure on the hymen during intercourse. he thought that the fact that the hymen was always " in the way " irritated it and it slowly developed to a chronical inflammation. he proposed to remove it surgically. at the time i thought it was not a good idea, because i felt pain around the vagina too, when i got aroused. it seemed that all that region, maybe one inch deep, was inflammated. removing the hymen didnt seem enough to eliminate the pain. i feared that i would not heal properly, because of all the inflammation, and it would make things worse. also, it had all started after a fungal infection, so i thought that maybe it was due to resistant candida. and i have IBS, which appears to be linked to this condition. now, with all the antiinflammatories i'm taking, the pain around the vagina has subsided. i still have strong irritation in the vaginal entrance, though. maybe what i have is a tendency to inflammatory response, combined with that intact hymen and a fungal infection that took some years to resolve (i've been testing negative since the end of last year, but before that it would alternate between negative and positive). just recently i've been thinking that maybe a combined approach is what's needed: removal of the hymen plus local estrogen application plus antiinflammatories. has any of you had similar experiences? antonia antonia >From: mmaddysmith@... >Reply-To: VulvarDisorders >To: VulvarDisorders >Subject: Hymenal pain + testosterone effects >Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2001 18:44:16 EDT > >Does anybody else have stinging just inside the vaginal entrance which >seems >to focus on the hymen? Guest guest
Hi, Yes, my hymen hurt b/c it never broke, it just stretched. I had surgery 3 weeks ago to have it and the glands removed. Testosterone will make you grow hair (facial). Ruth > Does anybody else have stinging just inside the vaginal entrance which seems > to focus on the hymen? Guest guest
Maddy I meant my hymen never teared -technically, it is as if i never lost my virginity. it happens sometimes, when the opening in the hymen is big enough. i felt a bit of pain in my first intercourse and that was it. the hymen just stretched a little. i feel pain just in the opening of the urethra, in the same region where the hymen is. my impression is that, when penetration occurred, the hymen pulled the urethra, exposing part of it and irritating it. >Antonia. Guest guest
Maddy, I'm going to be talking to my dr again on the 8th and I'm going to see if she can remove the hymenal remnant that I've got as well as the other piece of skin that is running from the top of my vagina all the way to my cervix. Mine is torn (henceforth the hymenal remnant also called the hymenal ring). Mine was torn as a result of my very first pelvic exam when I was 18. The dr that did it used a regular size speculum instead of a small size speculum that would have kept my hymen intact. I do worry that having it removed might make it worse for me but what I'm feeling now as a result of it is awful. The hymen always has a little bit left behind even after you have intercourse. I learned this from visiting this link: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health. It's one of my favorite links. There's a lot of info over there and there are several posts on the hymen and in fact I posted a couple of questions about this very issue of what a hymenal ring/remnant was. Please feel free to e-mail me privately any time. BTW, when will you be seeing a new gyn? Where do you live? I'm in FL. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Owner: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Endo_Vulvodynia_PCOS http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zoladexforendometriosis __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi, My hymen never tore either, it stretched. And stretching it too much (with a penis, ha ha) caused my hymen, glands, and area above my urethra to become permanently irritated. I had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove the hymen and glands. Most docs can't even recognize if your hymen has been broken. They must look under magnification. Guest guest
Kristy..The site you recommended is good , thanks for that. Its good that youve made a decision to have your op,I hope it pays off for you. This piece of skin which runs from your cervix,is it large enough to cause you irritation ,I mean does it catch during sex?Has your doc said its unusual? That must make you feel self conscious. The thing with vaginas is that unless they hurt we dont tend to look at them and then when we do we see all kinds of things which we feel might not be normal but infact might be.Im supposed to be making an appointment soon but I keep putting it off.Im from England BTW. Guest guest
Maddy, It is long and large enough to cause irritation but not during sex b/c I'm a virgin. My dr and I haven't had the chance to really discuss at length what is causing this but on that site that I gave you for Women's Health I had asked them about this and they said that yes skin can grow inside of the vagina but when I first asked about this I didn't have any thought in mind about skin tags until I searched the archives. I go back to my dr on the 8th. I hope that this is of some help to you. Where in the UK do you live? I have a few friends from there. As for it being a self-conscious, no I'm not self conscious about it but I do want to get rid of the skin and the hymenal remnant to hope that eases some of this stuff for me. My dr and I will talk about this on the 8th. I will let everyone know how it goes. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Owner: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Endo_Vulvodynia_PCOS http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zoladexforendometriosis __________________________________________________
