Guest guest
Hi Jen, My son never had problems sleeping but maybe Kaylee's band needs just a little shave around the ear. It is very common to need a couple of adjustments in the beginning to get the perfect fit. If she tolerates it well while awake then it is probably the shift around the ear when she lays down. I would call your ortho tomorrow and mention it, I'm sure they'll take care of it right away and you can all get some good zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs. Guest guest
Jen, I agree with Natasha - Kaylee may just need a little shave (by the way - I LOVE that name - I wanted to use that for , but dh vetoed). Also, at 6 mos, she may be coincidentally teething (the timing would be terrible, huh), so the band may not be the problem, but the teething - just a thought. Hope you get some more sleep soon!!! Guest guest
Kaylee, I would address this with your ortho. It is very common to have to go in quite a bit in the first week or so. If the band is rubbing her eye or her neck she could possibly need a little adjustment. Also, remember that Kaylee has come use to sleeping on a flat spot and now she isn't which could be a little strange to her. She will get use to it and sleep fine again. My daughter never missed a beat when she was finally banded. Sorry to hear about the sleep depervation. Let us know how things are going. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I don't have much to say that is encouraging about sleep issues. My son has only slept through the night ONCE since the end of August. I don't know if it is due to his band (and we do have known fit issues) or teething or the fact that he " has his momma's number. " LOL I would urge you to discuss this with your ortho. I did not tell mine about it soon enough and we have suffered through months of semi sleep deprivation as a result. If Kaylee was a good sleeper and isn't now (and there are no other obvious reasons for her not to sleep) then I would say it could be band related. I have also heard the brachy babies have a harder time adjusting to sleeping in a band. I don't know that from any first hand info though, or if that even applies to Kaylee. Good luck, Jen, and keep us posted! - mom to Aidan STARband 08/26/03 #2 due this week GR MI > Hi all, > > Kaylee got her Starband on Friday and seems > to be doing pretty well but we started trying > to get her to sleep at night with it and she > just wakes up every hour! > > It shifts up against her ear.
