Guest guest
Might I most humbly remind y'all that there IS an organization of EMS providers here in Texas which has a mandate to become politically involved with our issues and actually has a legislative consultant who is paid to look out for our interests. She is G.K. Sprinkle and is a very experienced legislative consultant. It is called the Emergency Medical Services Association of Texas (EMSAT) and membership could have been had for $15.00 for the first year from the Conference to the first of this year. Dues will now revert to $35.00 per year (or did we vote to lower them to $25.00 at the board meeting--help my failing memory here, please.) Membership doubled during the last year and at last count we had between 400 and 500 members. We also have corporate members who are very generous with their funds. Since there are 40,000+ EMS certificants/licensees in TX, it would seem that we ought to be able to get more than 1% of them to join. So please, consider becoming a part of the solution by joining this organization. It is the recognized Texas organization that is affiliated with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and has representatives on the NAEMT Board of Governors. EMSAT is a MEMBER-DRIVEN organization, fully democratic, and responsive to the needs and desires of its members. I'm proud to serve on the Board and hope we'll see another doubling (at least) of membership this year. Gene Gandy
