Fluctuations

When I read your post, I was reading exactly what my father and family

experienced. It's the bizarre fluctuations that can be so difficult. I

experienced extreme feelings of despair, confusion, then hope (when he

was " normal " ) then despair again. It's such a emotional rollercoaster

ride. One week my dad would be walking, laughing, dancing and then the

next he was rigid, slumped, restless, falling non-stop. LBD is just a

weird disease. We did notice that the downsides seemed to coincide

with infections or illnesses such as bladder, a sore throat or

congested chest, not to mention the experimentation of drugs to calm

him.

My heart goes out to you. My father passed away Jan. 20, 2011. It's a

very short (6 months) rough ride and I only wish I had found these

group during that ride.

Take good care,

Kelli

Thank you for your response Kelli. Did your dad realize that he had a problem?

Mine knows that he falls asleep too much but he is unaware of the falling,

hallucinations, stiffness etc. He really feels that he is normal and that he

can live alone. It sounds like your father's course was fairly short - six

months. Did he have extended good periods like weeks or was it pretty much day

to day?
