Guest guest
Do you take it, ? Did you do the iodine loading test? Do you agree with others in that lots of us are iodine deficient. I have the kit but keep forgetting to take the sample. Amy > > >>So is iodine good to take or not? Thanks Steph<< > > It depends o if you need it. Guest guest
I did a ptach test which indicated I neded iodine. And as I do nto eat iodized salt, I use Lugol's topically, though I have not been remembering it lately. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Won't painting on Lugol's tell you how much you need also? While the body absorbs it, you know you needed it, but when the body stops absorbing it, you know you've reached saturation levels, right? --- wrote: > >>So is iodine good to take or not? Guest guest
What is this kit? I bought a tiny bottle of iodine and use a cotton swab to apply. What more do you need? Just curious. --- anewkirk30 wrote: > > Do you take it, ? Did you do the iodine > loading test? Do you > agree with others in that lots of us are iodine > deficient. By 'patch test', do you mean that you bought the Lugol's, and then painted it on and waited to see how long it took to absorb? Where do you get the Lugol's? Thanks much, Liz
Guest guest
It's the kit for the iodine loading test itself. I have one too, but haven't got around to taking the test yet. I've been a little worried about doing it because of my hypothyroid - wanted to make sure my adrenals were supported first, and worried about the test kicking up my hashimoto's antibodies too. I know the test needs to be done though, so I'll do it soon. I just look at those Iodoral tablets and think " wow thats a lot to take all at once without a gradual buildup; that could whammy my whole system with the hypothyroid and hashis and stuff. " So then the test sits there, lol. --- wrote: > What is this kit? I bought a tiny bottle of iodine > and > use a cotton swab to apply. Guest guest
This is exactly where I am with this, too, . The kit is just sitting in my closet waiting for me to decide to pee in the cup. And I have the exact same concerns that you do about Hashi's. Amy > > It's the kit for the iodine loading test itself. The first time I did it in less than 3 hours it was totally gone. Now it remians visible abotu 12-14 hours and that is not using it every day. Guest guest
Well I'm about ready to do it, I guess. I'll have to stop taking the multivitamin that has iodine in it for a couple of days first though. I seriously don't know about taking Iodoral after the test is over, on a daily basis. I think it's just too variable from day to day what we need and it could make the Hashi's worse, or even kick the thyroid into hyperthyroid. I've heard a couple of people say that's happened to them, they went from hypo to hyper when taking Iodoral. So I'll take the iodine loading test, but then after that I'm going to do is try painting Lugol's on the soles of my feet or my breasts. I think this way my body will soak up what it needs and not what it doesn't need, and I can adjust the amount up or down. Much easier to tell what's going on that way than with taking the Iodoral pills, I think. --- anewkirk30 wrote: > > > This is exactly where I am with this, too, . > The kit is just > sitting in my closet waiting for me to decide to pee > in the cup. > > And I have the exact same concerns that you do about > Hashi's. > > Amy > > > > > > It's the kit for the iodine loading test itself. Guest guest
Does it have to be Lugol's, or will garden variety iodine from the drugstore do the trick? > > >>By 'patch > test', do you mean that you bought the Lugol's, and then painted it on and > waited to see how long it took to absorb?<< > > Yes. Guest guest
For the patch test I would think the drug store variety would be fine, but for everyday use, I would only use Lugol's as it has a tried and true mixture of the different iodides in it. This is what Dr Derry recommends an says accept no substitutes. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
That's interesting, because the drug store variety lasted over 24 hours on me! > > For the patch test I would think the drug store variety would be fine, > but for everyday use, I would only use Lugol's
Guest guest
The one thing you want to be careful with the drugstore variety of iodine is that is has a high alcohol content, so if you using it in patches, make sure to move the spot around so you don't end up irritating the skin. I did this with my foot after my surgery a few months ago and ended up using too much and got a bad rash. If I had been using Lugol's this wouldn't have been a problem.
