I agree with you Arline, in the manner of which his suggestion of a coke bottle was portrayed, very crude indeed with little sensitivity shown. But I will tell you that maxim is true. USE IT OR LOSE IT... Atrophy or dysfunction 'will' set in with loss of muscle 'use'.

Honestly from my own experience I know it to be true when I went for 3 years without sexual activity because of real exquisite pain, And I'm not talking only on top with Clitoral stimulation, that had nothing to do with exercising the actual vaginal muscles I'd always used. That sufficed but certainly did not have me using my main vag.muscles. *sigh*

I could not believe the loss of muscle use I had down there, almost as though they'd atrophied or weakened or withered away. After I was healed I found I could not 'grip' anymore as I used to be able to do very easily and it took a lot of sexual activity (it worked) to return that and thank goodness it was short lived and I was fine again. I also had to use dilators (I used a dildo) to stretch me for a short time previous to renewing sexual activity once I felt the tissue was healed.

The insertion itself was a brief second of pain, and it was not to be simulated as in a sex act, but held there motionless to 'stretch' the whole area, gently while I relaxed. I found it was the 'movement' or friction of the sex act or a dildo that caused the pain. But if kept still I was fine. At least no more pain than I'd had daily and by that stage in my healing I had a lot less of it.

Not only can the vaginal opening close up or narrow but the actual canal of the vagina shortens with little use epecially as one ages. Also the exact same muscles that help with incontinence are exercised as well. So it's not only for the sexual aspect, pleasurable as that is, but our overall health, even in supporting our female organs to keep them up there, as well as bringing a blood supply to the area to keep it healthy.

So it's the muscles as well as the tissue needing restructured or exercised and re-trained. As I think of it no different than a virgin with her first time quite often. :) And you can bet it WAS because of the lack of sex that I was determined to find MY Cure.. and the pain was secondary for 'me' bad as it was. It affected my whole quality of life especially with relationships. *sigh* as I thoroughly enjoyed sex previous to this damn disease, and can now once again.

I'm not saying if there is a true physical cause possibly created by an accident or otherwise that one wouldn't have pain in those muscles and exercise may never bring it back but I never had any type of internal pain or muscle problems, (other than lack of use) so indeed I don't put everyone into this category, not at all, and I just wanted to clarify that, and people like Tom can be a godsend to straighten things out sometimes.

Just my thoughts and experience anyway.

Something is causing the muscle dysfunction and I don't believe it is ever because of the lack of stimulation brought on by lack of sexual activity whether it is with another human being or with a coke bottle or dildo. It is like these doctors are only interested in our being able to have sex and not really interested in trying to find out how to cure us.

This problem should be taken more seriously than accepting these ridiculous suggestions of doctors. Severe and lasting muscle pain is a sign of a serious health problem and one that cannot be solved by coke bottles or dildoes. I for one refuse to fall for that particular form of medical propaganda and BS. How about some REAL medical care and REAL creative exploration of the causes of muscle pain instead of this.

Just my opinions. ~;o)Arline
