Guest guest
Will they ever get it hun?? This is the most frustrating thing of all.. besides the disease it self and the disability thing. If they or a family member is suffering as we all are.. they would do something then. Why would they want anyone to go through so much, I have no clue... and why do they think you are there in there office spending your money anyway's if for some hope of some kind of relief. Geeesh!~ I pray one day they will come to grips with the fact that not everything is caused by weight and stuff... you know Huggles you lots Sophia -- I'm frustrated Gotta be brief because I am off to work. I just saw the new pain clinic guy and I'm just frustrated. I won't be switching to him either. He basically says.... Stop smoking, lose weight, exercise, and stop taking all narcotic medications. He'll give me spinal injections ($600.00) every 2-4 weeks but no other medication. First off who can afford that? and Secondly, If I don't take my medication, I don't get out of bed... COME ON!! I told him for every doctor that believes we shouldn't take pain meds, there is another one who believes that we shouldn't have to suffer. I would much rather be on medication and be able to get out of bed in pain still, then be off medication and in bed writhin in pain!! It's an opinion. I was hopful that they would offer alternatives like massage, hot tub therapy, heat wraps..... but NO Just stop you meds and there are no alternatives. Your a fat, lazy, white trash smoking addict and that is your problem. If they want us not to take pain medication, then damn it... THEY need to get off their asses and find us a better treatment that makes our lives more livable!! They would be drinking morphine by the gallons if they had to live with the amount of pain that most of us do! He said it is almost malpractice for anyone to prescribe you pain meds. I just said, It is not malpractice for a doctor to prescribe relief therapy for someone dealing with chronic pain. It is my right to strive to live pain free, people with chronic pain need relief and it is also my right to seek that relief. I am here checking for new alternatives and if you don't think I need pain relief why are you offering me $600.00 injections? If you can't offer me any alternative therapy than... uh No, I won't be scheduling a procedure at this time. UGH!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
I can really sympathize with all the docs being that way when it comes to pain meds. When I was first diagnosed, the doc prescribed me Soma to help with sleep and pain. But as you all know, I don't have insurance now and cannot afford to go to anyone. But when I lived in AZ, just earlier this yr, I did the unthinkable. I went to Mexico and got my soma. In fact I have been considering calling the pharmacy there where I got it last time and put in a repeat order. They told me all I had to do was call, let them know what I wanted and they would send it when they got the money order. And it is cheaper than when I get it here in the states, $13.50 for 100. I am not suggesting this for anyone, just letting you all know what I am definately considering for the time been, at least until I can get in to see a doc with some insurance. It sure beats nothing at all or only motrin for the pain. Guest guest
This is the way I order my birth control pills. Instead of $28 a month here, I can get a three month supply from New Zealand for $38. Same pills and they get here in about a week. N. > I went to Mexico and > got my soma. Guest guest
Alenna, Amen sister! I'm sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with the new pain management doctor...it IS very frustrating when you come up against something like that. It's my understanding that some less scrupulous pain docs like to push those steroid injections because they're such a cash cow for them. There is also no guarantee that the injections are going to work, and in some cases they can make the pain worse. It blows my mind that the doctor you saw said that using narcotics for Fibro is almost malpractice. My answer to that would be that I think it borders on malpractice to let us suffer needlessly in pain. I don't see how any doctor with a shred of morality or ethics could deny a patient the ability to live their life free of pain, regardless of it's source. A good doctor should be willing to do whatever it takes to adequately relieve their patient's pain. However, there is one area where I do have to agree with the doctor, and that is on smoking. Smoking DOES increase pain levels, by constricting the blood vessels, and cutting off the supply of oxygen to the muscles. Anyway, I hope your search for a new pain management doctor turns up someone good very soon. Keep the faith, and don't settle for less than the best....he or she IS out there somewhere! Much love, Jen Site mod
Guest guest
Crap Alenna. I'd be frustrated too. Definitely cross him off the list.
