How many of the people who work for, or at, Autism Speaks are autistic?

As an Aspie and a mother of 5, 2 on the spectrum as well! I don't see Autism

Speaks as a threat they are doing what our parents did for us...fought for

answers, change, research. They are also informing the world of NT'S that we are

here to stay but none of the answers as far as what causes it are being

answered, our government keeps everything contained and probably knows why but

until that happens, the parents are fighting the battles. They are fighting that

their children can receive their services under coverage, they are fighting for

least restrictive educations, awareness. These are all things I want for my sons

so that they can learn about themselves and how to overcome some obstacles so

that no one can ever hurt them, exploit them, or institutionalize them when I

die.

This so off the mark. The parent are fighting for us? what a joke

They are most certainly not telling NTs we are here to stay!

children individually.

Well sorry, I do not wish to find a cure because I have said before it is not

HIV, or Cancer! I read their foundation under wikipedia, and withdraw all

support for them. I however support awareness, rights for my children, and every

service they need available to them.

i know that i have autism and i under stand that

theres a person that whats to protest that autism

speak is wrong for what thy are doing and thats not

right thy are doing what you want and what every one

want's i wish thy could cure autism so i could have

friends but thats not going to happen as long ass thy

can teach me how to deal with my problems i face on a

every day thing thats fine but when a person protest

about something thy have no idea what thy are talking

about that make me mad.like i speak for my self not

them will good for you but there are a lot of people

in the world that do not understand

autism.asperger's.pdd-nos.rett's.cdd so that is what

thy are doing trying to find out why and what is

causeing autism and cure like in better treatment and

education and telling the world about autism not

stoping children from been born like some here on this

group think .am on a board called f.e.a.t-fmc and we

help family's with new and old diagnosis to get help

in services and iep's in school and other good info

and teaching the goverment on autism are you all going

to come here and protest and tell me what we are doing

is wrong to because the why you talk and the why

people think and understand with autism have a hard

time understanding speech i have a hard time with that

i think some one said one thing and then i find out i

was why off from what thy where talking about i have a

hard time proseing info of speech so make me

understand what you are talking about. " because autism

speaks is not speaking for you thy are speaking to the

hole world about autism " thanks tom

As do I. I was quite surprised by the organization when I read it in Wikipedia.

If it was true to it's name, the organization would allow people on the Autistic

Spectrum to speak to others to show that we're people too, people that hold job,

have families, lives, and more importantly, are ourselves as well.
