Question about Tylenol w/Codeine

Hello all,

Does anyone know if Tylenol w/Codeine is tolerable for

Lewy Body Dementia patients?

My Mom's ORTHO dr. told me the other day that Ultram is

not a recommended pain med for broken body parts, arm,

etc. As it demotes healing. He said by looking at my

Mom's exrays on her broken arm (which is healing after 2

months now and she is able to move it some now, but still

in constant pain), he said the Ultram hasn't affected her

healing process. But he said if she could tolerate

Tylenol w/Codeine Or Loratab he would prefer those 2.

But he said since she is healing properly then to not take

a chance of switching pain med's she could stay on the Ultram

possibly if she continues to heal.

He also said with the broken arm, it will never be like the

other arm or how it was before, and she could live with

CHRONIC PAIN for the rest of her life.

Thank you all and God bless to each and everyone of you!

I have used Ultrum myself and it doesn't put me to sleep like Codeine does. I

only use a pill at night but doesn't make me dizzy for foggy or anything. I

have used it before I had knees replaced for the pain. I don't know how much

she uses, but I would pick it over Codeine anytime. That is just my personal

experience.

I did take it with food. I think that the last one that I took was the ULTRAM

that was timed release. I took it with something at bedtime and the stomach

problems were during the day. Not sure why, except that I have been on so many

meds that my stomach is probably quicker to respond to something that can cause

stomach irritation. I asked my pain mgmt doc for a prescription for Protonix,

but she declined because she said that the stomach burning was a sign of an

ulcer so she changed my meds to Kadian. I take the Kadian at noon and midnight

and I didn't have any problem.
