Hi Kathy...

I am a dental hygienist and used to be a dental assistant. Your

dentist will probably use an anesthetic called Carbocaine ( it's minus

epinephrine, which speeds the drug to your nerves) but don't worry..it will

still work. I have had it used before..it just doesn't stay in your system

as long. The numbing will probably wear off in 1-3 hours so you should be

fine. Lidocaine or Xylocaine (has epinephrine added) stays in your system

longer so you're numb longer (3-6 hours...yuck!!) Good luck...you'll do

fine!! Think of happy thoughts...like being on a paradise beach!!!

Jodi :)

It put my husband in the hospital with severe anxiety attacks a couple of times.

Some eyedrops (used for dilating) contain epinephrine.
