Hi and welcome to the group!

I get bad headaches sometimes, too, but maybe not as bad as you do.

Have you been able to find any link to what you did, ate, etc. before

the headache came on? (I know there are many here who can give you

input on this subject - and you may want to go back a ways to read

past posts on it).

I know for myself, if I've been driving in really bright sunlight (or

driving at night with the headlights coming at me) that tends to

bring it on really bad. Also, (a given) a high stress day will do

it. Plus, I'm noticing at night that I'm not sleeping correctly and

I think my neck is misaligned or something and it causes a really bad

headache (and neck pain).

Hope you get some helpful info here ... there's a lot of caring

people who will respond when they're able. I'm learning that I need

to be patient and that I forget how busy everyone is, how much pain

they are also in, and that getting caught up on these posts can be a

little overwhelming at times.

XOXO

work on the headaches and the burning in my neck......eyyyye!

migranes my dear friend. ugh is the right word! When I was a kid, my mother used to call them "sick headaches". I got them later in life and then I had gastric bypass surgery and weight wasn't all I lost. I lost the migranes too. Haven't had one since 12/98. Wonderful

Hi New kid on the block here!

I have a question about severe headaches, the kind that are debilitating. I get really nauseated and the light hurts my eyes.....ugggh, smell make me feel sick and I really need to lay down, my eyes tear..... and so on and so on....lol

My rant for the day...... 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Michele,

What your describing sounds like a Migraine. I get them on a regular basis and that's how I would describe what it feels like. I need to be in a dark room, because light hurts. Sound is magnifies 10 fold. I have specific medication for the headaches and most of the time it works. Sometimes I have to go in to get a shot tho. Before I moved here I would go to my pain doctor and get shots of Torodol and Norflex. If that didn't work it was off to the ER for Demerol, but then I was wiped out the next day. I only do that as a last resort. I would have it checked out with your doctor because there is medication to help.

Margaret, I never knew that the weight had something to do with migraines.. wow something i need to check into. Maybe it is the blood pressure or the like that causes the headaches.. did you also have high blood pressure, when you had the migraines.. just curious ??? I'm not sure that weight had anything to do with them. I just know that since I had that surgery, I haven't had a migrane. It may be something to look into though. And yes, previous to my surgery I had diabetes and High blood pressure. I dont' have either now. That may be something too. I know my mother isn't overweight and she gets them but she also has high BP.

Hi ,

Welcome to the group! I'm cyn, one of the site mods. It really feels so

weird to be on a list where so many people get migraines. I used to be

the only person I knew that got them, and thought I was some kind of a

freak!

I take Neurontin to prevent migraines, and also to help with the fibro

pain. It really makes a big difference! But the thing that helped the

most with my migraines was Botox. I was in a study last year, and went

from having 2 or 3 migraines a week to 1 a month, and then 1 every couple

of months...it's wonderful! And Botox has been approved for use in

preventing migraines, so insurance companies will cover the treatments.

So far I haven't needed any more injections, and it's been almost a year

since my last round. It sounds frightening, because they have to inject

you several times, but the needles are small and the injections didn't

hurt me at all, even the ones in my face. You might want to ask your doc

about it. It really does work, take it from someone who experienced

migraines for nearly 41 years.

Hi Cyn,

Does the Botox help with other types of headaches, like cluster types or the kind I get from the Myofascial disease? I also get a lot of Migraines.
