Hi,

I just thought I would introduce myself as this is my first time

on this list. Around November, I had a UTI and took Bactrim for it.

A week after the antibiotics, I had a slight itch and then experienced

burning. This is the first time I have ever had vaginal pain (I am

22) and I took Monistat and then 2 100 mg. doses of Diflucan. In

addition, I have anal burning and itching. My first gyn could not

find anything wrong - she checked for yeast and bacteria. The second

gynecologist diagnosed me with HPV. The third gynecologist said I was

misdiagnosed and I really have vulvodynia. I have a white clumpy

vaginal discharge which he said was probably a yeast infection. I was

disappointed because again they could not find yeast. I have an

appointment with Dr. on March 5. I hope he can help me - my

pain is not so severe that I can't sit or exercise, but I'd like to do

all of this without being aware of my vulva! I feel like I shouldn't

count on anyone fixing this - if all of these doctors could not find

yeast, I find it hard to believe that it is indeed that. I hope Dr.

can find something but I expect the worst. I used to really

enjoy life and I am young and want to do so much, but now it seems I

am constantly worried about this. I also don't want to push

my boyfriend away as I cry a lot - he is a very supportive man.

Anyways, I just thought I would introduce myself. Thank you and I

wish all of you success in your treatments so you can fully enjoy your

lives.

Seema, please let us all know what Dr. says. Are you in

Arizona or traveling there.

You are lucky that you are going to see him and I am very interested

to see what he says. The no yeast infection with clumpy white

discharge sounds like a mis diagnosis about a yeast infection.

Hang in there,

Hi, your symptoms sound exactly what I went through 3 years ago when it all

started for me. Symptoms that indicated a bladder infection, yet nothing

cultured, symptoms of a yeast infection, but no yeast was found, symptoms of

a bacterial infection, yet no bacteria could be identified. Just very very

irritated tissue. I was put on rounds of antibiotics and yeast killers,

nothing helped, and I believe it made things worse by killing off all the

good bacteria in my digestive system and vagina. What did help was to take

oral accidophillus supplements to replenish the good bacteria that had been

killed off from the anitbiotics. I also experienced low back pain and

extreme pain when I would sit. So you have that? Then I realized I

couldn't do a Kegal, the exercise you do to lift the pelvic floor muscles or

stop the flow of urine, or squeeze your partner during intercourse. My

pelvic muscles were in a state of constant contraction, pinching nerves that

innervate the rectal, bladder, and vaginal areas. Those irritated nerves

was what was contributing to my awful burning and itching. I mean burning,

like someone took a wire brush to my vagina and then poured hot pepper sauce

in it. Then I sought help for the muscles that were contracted. Does this

sound like it fits you at all? If it does, I'll continue with how treating

the muscles helped me. Sher

Good luck to you - I'm sorry you have to fly down all the way from

Seattle. I am seeing him in the morning - maybe I will see you there.

I know that people tell me it's bad to do this, but I feel like it is

my fault. I do eat right and exercise but maybe I could have avoided

all of this somehow - my mother never had any of these problems - she

never even knew or heard of a yeast infection!

> Hi Seema, I'm seeing Dr. on the 5th also. Heres hoping he

can help us

> both. Like you I am afraid to have too much hope because no one

else has

> been able to help me. Warm regards, Donna in Seattle

,

Thanks for your encouragement. I actually am in Arizona. I have

pleaded with my insurance to let me see him but they don't believe me

when I tell them he is the only vulvodynia specialist in Phoenix.

I'm hoping it's something that can be cured - I would love to have

a day where I don't worry about my health. I also dance a lot so I

would love to be able to dance for hours like I used to. I guess we

can't totally give up hope. I got really discouraged because I went

to the Mayo Clinic and was diagnosed with vulvodynia but he could not

find yeast. Dr. is my last hope!! Take care.
